6 years have past being a proud owner of an amazing 2012 Shelby. I loved this car. I truly thought I would own it forever. This was my dream car. Always got compliments and stares quite often. I Bought it when I was single. Modded it as if my hair was on fire. Researching mods, reading about other posters Tech info and modifying there cars was such a joy on this forum over the years. At the beginning this thing was MY LIFE......

Then I met my wife with 2 kids, not counting the one I already had. We ended up having 3 girls together in the past 4 years. But My wife wanted me to keep it, even though she never drove it or had really anything to do with it. She knew I loved it......

From being single with one kid to married and now 6 kids. Putting most of my time into my family and my new Pest business, My Lightning and GT500 were at the bottom of my list of priorities.

I have accomplish everything I set out to do with it. I’m sad to see it go, but yet I’m happy where I’m headed after it’s gone.

We are using the proceeds to buy a lakehouse which comes with a boat. Another dream of mine. Its time to entertain the family and move on to bigger and better things. Car wasn’t being driven much anymore and collecting dust in my garage. Not my first mustang to own and I’m sure it won’t be my last. Thanks for reading

This makes me a little sad, because I'm still in the "the car is my life" phase but soon will be married. I dread the day that I will have to make this choice. For now though, I'll enjoy it.

Good luck man, and if you ever get another Mustang you have another family here.

A lot of maturity shown in your post, @99cobraUgotbit. Years from now you will look back on this decision and others you'll make, and smile knowing you did the right thing at the right time for the right reason.

Always sucks having to sell your (toy/baby). I'm about to get married and we already have a 3 month old girl. I hardly ever drive my GT500, but I don't know if i could ever part with it.

I'm lucky I married a wonderful and supportive woman who encourages my hobby. She gave me the green light to get a Shelby next once my shop is built. No room for anything else right now. But op's story is a sad, but gleeful one. He is on to another chapter in life. He's just at a chapter some of us aren't ready to turn to.

I love yours. If you decide it needs to go to another good home, I'll be buying in 6mos to 1 year.

Thanks man, I love the color combo, but I think Van Collier would be pissed at me for selling his old car lol

I divorced my first wife, cause she sucked. Than met my current wife at a car meet (12 years ago) who speaks "car" very fluently and enjoys the hobby just as much as me. Our marriage works well.

OP, good luck sir. I sold my last mustang last week. That lasted a whole 4 days, couldn't take it and went out bought another. LOL GL

Thanks a lot guys. This has been my go to forum for the past decade and this section since 2012. I will be lurking here and the other sections to see when the new Shelby comes out. IF it ever does.

Regardless of what your "car future" has in store for you. You'll always have your kids and you can proudly say you owned a SHELBY! You never know whats next. Good luck!

I sold my Z06 and the compromise was I can buy a GT500 since it has a back seat, and we have our first child on the way. My wife is fun to compromise with.... and boy do I love my Shelby.

Ive posted something similar in another form, but the cars are so different. I had a C6, and if you ask me it's the best bang for the buck for a plug and play track car. Being in Florida we have several road courses available, and I try to get out as often as I can. As I have gotten older, and after an accident and neck issues I was no longer tracking the car nearly as much. It became a weekend pleasure car, and for that it's terrible. I hated driving it around the city, it was too low and could barely clear a large driveway without scraping. I used to plan my trips and if there were any unknowns I could not take the Corvette. So when the wife got pregnant, we talked and decided that the car wasnt being used and was impractical. So we sold it, and I am very happy with my GT500

The Shelby is perfect for me, it's fast, you can zip around town no problem and clearing driveways and parking lots is easy. The car is quiet, and can be driven long distance without fatigue (wish I had the recaro seats, stock seats suck). So I personally like the GT500 much better for its intended purpose. However nobody can take anything away from the Z06, and for track work it's probably the best out of the box car I have ever driven. Down the road I will probably buy another one, just because its such a solid performer.
