So to start off, I'm not a tin hat type of person.

But with this summer being so hot and humid me and my wife have been watching a lot of movies at night. Some on netflixs, or on the movie channels on cable.

But we have noticed if we google movies that we are watching in our phones to check stuff out about the movie or who was in it, that our phones always knew the search before we typed it out.

We just watched the movie "They Live" and I typed in my phone "THE" and the first thing it started to auto fill in was "they live".

How out of all the things that start with "the" would it go to the movie thats randomly on the tv if my phone wasn't listening to whats around it. Am I crazy or does it seem like our phones know what I'm doing all the time.

They definitely are.

We were watching tv and some guy gave his kid a Rolex for his birthday. I said out loud “damn, I wish someone would give me a Rolex”. That night I got the one and only Rolex add on instagram I’ve ever seen

My girlfriend said the same thing awhile back and then when I started paying attention I would see more and more ads of just stuff we talked about.

Almost 2 years for me. The most obscure items. Portable saw mills, sewage grinder pumps, airstreams. Within hours of passive conversation. Key word triggers.

This is nothing, the end result they want to achieve is real time advertising.
Imagine, you are walking past a mall, they can tell you are in the area. BOOM your phone explodes with buy 2 get 1 free, 50% off jeans, etc..etc...
Driving down the road, stop at stop light beside car dealer..boom he steve come trade in your Ford F-150 and get into a new Ram TRX today for $600/month light turns green...

This is what "they" want, to know where you at all times, and be occupying all of your free time subtle control.

Ok hat off now

You can turn off location awareness, WiFi when shopping to avoid some of that, or just put that bitch on airplane mode.

It is an invasion of privacy. We give permission though.

A few weeks ago we were talking about taking a weekend trip to these cabins I have never heard of before. Someone she works with told her about them. Within a few hours one of there ads popped up on another forum I was browsing.
