My first 1995 Cobra R problem was the fuel cell. I solved it by installing a stock steel tank (yes, I kept the old tank).

I drove the 95R at first light this morning. I left at 0615. I found my second problem after over 20 years of ownership. My power steering pump is failing. There is a noise when turning sharply at low speeds.

It wasn't my fault. I changed fluids in the power system regularly. I had the two hoses marked so I could flush them with new fluids.

The pump failed. I'll replace it and move on. :D

This is two failures in over twenty years. ;)

I like driving it. During the morning drive, I appreciate the shifting of the Tremec TR 3550, and a few other cars were surprised with the torque and road holding ability.

The LF brake anti-lock has also failed. It's not the sensor but the LF anti-lock. It locked up on a wet piece of payment.

I now have a P/S failure and a LR brake failure. The car is only 23 years old (last March) and insured in an old collector car insurance policy. :D Who would think a couple of simple parts may fail?

Now when I was younger, I'd get it fixed myself. As an older American citizen, I'll take it over to the Ford dealer for repairs (one mile away).

Nonetheless, it is still faster than anything else in 1995. It won more races than Corvette (or any other GM bankrupt car ever dreamed about).

Pop Quiz: What are the two American cars that never went bankrupt? Ford and Tesla (Telsa is next).

The car is totaled, I'll give you $100 cash for it. Small, unmarked, non sequential bills if you prefer :D

Is there enough value to have the factory pump rebuilt? The simplest thing for the dealer is to swap out the pump for a different unit. If you could afford the down time, it's possible the original unit could be rebuilt and reused.

On a normal car, a different PS pump is no issue but with something so rare it's nice to be 'all original'

Thanks old buddy. You are making like $1M every year restoring cars. I'd just cause you another tax problem if I sold it to you. ;)

I guess I'll have to go out and wrestle the old pump out and install a new one along with flushing the P/S fluid. Ya'll should run down here to help me. :D

Otherwise, the car is among the fastest cars ever made in 1995. :D

I got out of that business due to various reasons in 2012, right after hurricane Sandy

I sure apologize to you.

I am currently upset with other dudes that restore cars (not you). They continue to promise things that they will never deliverer.

...They continue to promise things that they will never deliverer.

I am not the only one.

I have talked with several guys that have had cars (and two boats) in a service shop with really no promised work accomplished. Many have been in the shop for as many as three years. Most of them have pre-paid for future work which was not done.

The shop always promises stuff that doesn't happen. My next car will have a legal contract on exactly when the car will be worked on and the results in the time-frame in the contract. I will not pay them any cash since they have my valuable car and can place a mechanic's lien on it if I don't pay.

Some shops will use your old friendship to screw you.

Many service shops make Wall Street seem to be like a little walk in a park.
