Wondering what the total cost of throwing in a magnum is with all supporting mods ie clutch, driveshaft, shifter, clutch line plus install.

About $5500 if you do it $7500 if you have it installed, thats not including changing the rear end gears to compensate for the mt-82's lower gear ratios compared to the magnum xl!

would the stock performance pack 3.73's be good for the t56? The car has a 2.9 whipple putting down 714rwhp and 543rwtq.

It depends on which T56 Magnum. I have the T56 Magnum XL 2.97 in my 2011 with 3.31 gears, and the setup was perfect until I lost some low end torque with the x pipe. I think that the 2.66 Magnum is better for turbos. Anyway.... I've been thinking about going with a 3.55 gear just to give me a little more pep when putting around. There's no way I would hook with 3.73 gears with my Roush blower. Not sure if any of this helps, given that u have a newer mustang. Anyway... I think 3.31 gears are better with a positive displacement blower like you got. 3.73 or 4.10 for Paxton, Vortec, or Pro Charger.

So would the lower geared t56 be best for the 3.73's? I think its a 2.6. Also unfortunatly its not my car, its my friends car. it's a freakin beast.

I'm pretty certain I remember reading that guys with the 266 magnum end up going with 373 or 410 gears. However, I don't think they had Whipples on top. I think these were centrifugal guys. Search it out more.

I have the 2:97 1st gear with 4:10's which is the equivalent of having 3:31's with the mt-82! Car pulls really hard through all the gears!

I thought it was the 2.66 Magnum with 4.10 gears that equal the mt 82 with 3.31. I'm going to call Tremic on Monday to find out for sure.

What you're saying doesn't gel with my experience. I have the stock 3.31 gears with my T56 Magnum XL 2.97 and the car accelerates just like it did with the MT – 82 and the same 3.31 gears.

Here is gear ratio comparison between a Tremec With 4:10's vs an mt-82 with 3:31's

Tremec ratio. Final drive ratio. Mph@ 7500 rpm. Rpm@ 80mph.
1st. 2.97. 12.18. 50.2. 11949.
2nd. 2.10. 8.61. 71.0. 8448.
3rd. 1.48. 5.99. 102.2. 5874.
4th. 1.00. 4.10. 149.1. 4023.
5th. 0.80. 3.28. 186.4. 3218.
6th. 063. 2.58. 236.7. 2535.

Mt-82:
1st. 3.66. 12.11. 50.5. 11887.
2nd. 2.43. 8.04. 76.0. 7892.
3rd. 1.69. 5.59. 109.3. 5489.
4th. 1.32. 4.37. 140.0. 4287.
5th. 1.00. 3.31. 184.7. 3248.
6th. 065. 2.15. 284.2. 2111.

3:31's are the perfect ratio for a boosted car with an mt-82 and 4:10's are the perfect ratio for a boosted car with a tremec!

If you have a 2.97 T56 Magnum with a positive displacement blower like the Kenne Bell, Whipple, or Roush and you go 4.10 gears you will not have any traction.

3.73's with 2.97 T56 is perfect. Had 3 cars with this set-up from centri - twin screw. Great gearing and tranny.

I figured running it with the 3.73's would prolly be best. it may be able to handle 4.10's cuz the front fed whipples have lower torque than most other blowers, but he's gonna try it out with the 3.73's first.

what about 4.10's with the 2.66 magnum?

What about NA, would 3.73 gears replicate close enough to the stock MT82 gearing on the 2018?
