hey all, sorry to get back in so late.

i havent posted about it but i have all but let the auto industry and went back to my roots in insurance. got an offer i couldnt refuse...
but im averaging 11 hour days now. i get home, plop on the couch, and pass out till its time to do it again the next day.

still working on the hoods though, albeit on the side.

i did get an update last month but forgot to post up about it. was supposed to be june.
i checked yesterday to see if it was still looking like june and was told that all carbon stuff is behind schedule and being pushed back till july; likely the end of july.

also, the new, redesigned latch plates have come further along. i have dropped them off with unclesam to do some test fitting for me and to see if any further adjustments need to be made. once that's all figured out and done, ill post up about it.

i know people have sent me pms, sorry i have not been on to reply; to anyone. not just you. ill get to them as i can.

thank you all for your patience. i'm still here and this is still happening. i apologize for the late start and being done later than planned. they will be worth it in the end though, i promise you that.

just a "little" update for y'all. not on the hoods themselves per se but on the re-designed latch plates.

this is just a crude prototype for test fitment. as ridiculous as it sounds, it took this long just to get to this point. and huge thanks to UncleSam for his continued help with test fitting and his help with trimming this prototype to make it work. you're my boy Blue!

the re-designed kits will be super simple and should cause less headaches for installation. they are comprised of a top plate, and a bottom plate, with some rivets.

you take the C shaped piece and slide it inside the hood through the square hole. you can even clamp it in place if you're afraid your butterfingers won't let you down and you may drop it.. line up the pre-drilled holes and put a rivet in there and pop it into place. with the thickness of these pieces you should (hopefully) not need to F with the latch at all.

***for existing hood owners, this can easily be retro-fitted. you will still use your large, visible top plate. i can send you the bottom, hidden C plate. for these folks, the C plate will be blank. it is mild steel. you line them, mark your holes to be drilled after lining it up with your top plate, remove the C plate, drill the holes, then slip it back into place and pop those rivets. for the existing owners who would like this C plate, there is no charge. just shoot me a pm with your shipping address and i will send one out to you as soon as they are available.

for the new hoods, they will not be ready in time to be installed during production so they will have to be installed locally once the hoods are in the warehouse and before they ship out.

Steve, since they are mild steel, will they be coated/painted before application?

only the inner plate is mild steel. the outer, exposed plate will still be stainless. the only reason we went mild steel on the inner plates is so the retro fit guys would not have a bear of a time trying to drill a hole in them.

im sure not 1 person with this hood, who lives in an area where rust is a concern, will have their car sitting outside in the elements lol. BUT, i can easily have them all powder coated if you guys like. i have no issue with that. hopefully i can get all that done before the hoods are here.

i was planning to powder coat the exposed stainless pieces so they blend in with the hoods. simple flat black. easy to touch up if they get scratched from the latch

They haven’t even started production of the hoods. End of July might start production. We will be lucky to actually get the hood October November.

not sure where you heard that but from what i was told they were supposed to arrive this month some time. ill check on it this coming week. maybe you mistook my saying they should be ready in July as starting production in July.

from what i was told they had some major hold ups with carbon fiber. obviously that shouldnt affect 100% duraflex hoods but they all ship at the same time .

i swear i deal with a bunch of tards. i specifically requested SS for the top/outer plates and they made everything in mild steel. and theyre all done already. on top of that, the inner pieces that go inside the hood are slightly too big and dont fit through the opening. so they have to go back and do some trimming.

im planning on having the parts powder coated.

Different subject but , is True Forged still in the wheel business?

yes and no. im in talks with a friend who may buy the business. i can still do some stuff on the side but its with the understanding that its a side gig now and may take a while longer to get stuff done. my M-F is pretty much non-available. i have a bunch of ps tanks sitting here that i havent even had time to deal with to get rid of them. amongst various other parts.

If you have some Cobra hood vents and GT500 hood vents available, I’m looking to buy some. Been trying to get ahold of you sir.

hey all,
sorry, been meaning to post up for the past few weeks and have been dealing with some major personal issues. wife found out she has cancer, had surgert, starts chemo soon. all this within the past month or so. and just plain bogged down with work. i work till night and then eat dinner and pass out. the last thing i want to do is hop on a computer again.

anywho, obviously the hoods have not arrived by the end of july as last stated. i contacted my guy and he said ALL of ED's production got pushed back about a month. i believe mostly due to carbon fiber production. SO, we're not looking at August. ill double check but i believe that means delivered in August, and if so, they should be on a boat as it takes forever to arrive. i sent the hood latches back to have them corrected. supposedly theyre going to remake new ones in SS as i ordered. we'll see if that actually happens or not. *sigh*. at least that gives me a little more time to get those done and off to powder coating.

Sorry to hear about your wife. That’s tough beyond what I can imagine. Will keep her, you, and docs in prayer

Thanks for posting
