They've been dead. For a very long time.

Chrysler is just pulling a Plymouth. Both are/were far cries from what they once were.

Dodge and Chrysler own the Minivan Market in 2017 with over about 50% of the market. 26% Dodge 24% Chrysler which was slightly growing because no one made an affordable 7 passenger vehicle all these little SUVs suck for people with several kids in car seats. If we see the large SUVs comeback maybe the

Similarly they have over 35% of Large car market (300 and Charger) with Charger at 22% and 300 at 13%. I doubt the 300 purchasers are stealing sales from the charger as stylistically they are polar opposites.

With Ford exiting the market that will free up some more volume on the large car market but the market as a whole is declining. I believe the main reason they are looking to scrap Chrysler is they are do for a major refresh and probably not enough $ to justify. I believe the Chrysler was the last large car with v8 and rwd that sells ( the SS doesnt sell well) that is a little more refined looking then the charger. They talked of going to small engine FWD which is stupid because then you are competing with the imports like Kia, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai which they are making cheaper and cheaper each year sharing all development cost across their entire line up.

Then again, it might be a dealer-by-dealer thing.
Of course it is. Not saying every Big 3 dealer has treated me bad, but the list of Big 3 shit dealrs vs shit import dealers is A LOT longer based on my experience & those I know.

Dodge, Jeep, and Ram are the only brands that really matter. But any of FCA's vehicles that are built on Fiat platforms need to go as they are just shit. The 300 is just old, still based on the old E Class chassis I believe.
This! Bye-bye Chrysler.....you won't be missed!

FlahDah man.
Doesn't the pacifica sell well?

Don't have an issue with Chrysler going though.
I love our pacifica. Would like a monster v8 in it, lol but for our long family trips it is the best traveler i have owned.

Makes sense.

The only reason Dodge/Chrysler sell any vehicles is because of the staggering amount of people with terrible finances that just HAVE to have a brand new car.

Enterprise has an absolutely shitload of Grand Caravans and used to have an equal amount of Town & Countries, but when the Pacifica came out the T&C was obviously phased out. We saw a number of Pacificas come through in 2017 but lately there have been very few. I still get a number of Grand Caravans coming in, many of them being new with low miles. I'm wondering if they phased out the Pacificas as well or reduced their stock in them because they were problematic much like the 200s were. They had a ton of 200s up until 2017, but once they announced they would end production they all disappeared.

I actually liked my new company-issued K car back in 1985. It was better than the two Buricks I was issued before (1981 and 1983), although the Buricks were "purtier", the K car was just get a good car, at least for the 55K miles I drove it.
You must've got a unicorn then. In those days I was professional wrencher. Those K cars and the 80-85 GM X Bodies were the biggest pieces of shit that I dealt with on a regular basis.

Link to where you got these facts from?

It's called real life.

People with terrible finances usually make poor decisions. Buying a brand new Chrysler or Dodge is the epitome of a poor decision. Hell, buying a brand new car in general is a poor financial decision in all but a few circumstances. Buying a Chrysler or Dodge just compunds it.

$1.5 billion loan package, the Chrysler Corporation Loan Guarantee Act of 1979. They should have been DOA then.

But as a believer in fairly free markets, Chrysler should have been gone years ago.

You do realize that if the US government didn't give them this loan then we wouldn't have been able to get the M-1 Abrams tank and so be stuck with the late 50's early 60's M-60 Patton for the military back then. As it was Chrysler that won the contract with their XM-1 concept. So if Chrysler went bye bye then it would of been so much wasted time, effort, and money with absolutely nothing to show for it. This was the only reason they got this first bailout to begin with.

I was referring the dude's implication that somehow, the only reason Dodge/Chrysler sells cars is because it's the new car of choice of poor people.

Also, there are more than a few people in SVTP that buy cars new. Does it make us poor decision makers? Or is it because we handled our finances well enough that we can get away with it?

My point to both of you: Stop it with the gross generalizations and oversimplifications. I know that for some of you, that's all you can handle, but damn.
