AC compressor

My car is usually driven short distances once a week or so, it’s a 16 with 11K and a 2.9 Whipple. The AC was completely non-existent last trip, so after checking fuses etc, I took it to the dealer. Was Told today the compressor is bad, and will be changed under warranty. Seems really odd it would crap out so fast. Svc writer said he saw another “performance” car with the same issue, and maybe it was d/t the high revs! I call BS. Doesn’t the Shelby use the same AC? Besides I don’t push it hard often at all, and rarely with AC on. I’m glad it’s getting fixed, but what gives?

I believe that it was an issue with this year, as my 16' crapped out as well. From day one I heard a surging sound from under the dash that was resolved and about 6 months into ownership, I lost a/c as well.

Maybe a bad batch of components, poor design or what? I’d like to prevent a recurrence when the warranty ends! Ideas?

I have a 2016 performance pack as well and had my compressor and evaporator replaced at 10,000 miles.
