Hi

I have been a member of the forum for a while and have had boosted cars in the past but never owned a car with an aftermarket superhcarger on it. What I have is a 93 Bronco with a Kenne Bell Twin Screw supercharger on it. I bought it off of an auction like a year ago and didn't get a chance to work on it up until a month ago. The car runs just fine but since it is off of an auction and I don't have any information about the history of the vehicle I don't know where to start.
I am assuming that the ECU had been tuned so do I need to get it re-tuned?
I noticed a small mechanical noise coming from the snout I am thinking to open it up to see if it is the spider that needs to be replaced.
I am in San Diego,CA, do you guys know anyone or shop around here that can check out the engine/sc?

Thanks very much in advance.

1993 is old enough that a tune wasnt required. There are better ways to do things today obviously, but most supercharger kits from that era came with an FMU and instructions to retard the timing a bit.

That truck was a Speed density car and pre ODBII. Unless electronics was upgraded then it was tuned as said above. Kenne Bell is in California so there is no better place to start than with them. Would love to see pics of the truck as right now I am looking for a Bronco and love them. What motor?

can't help you too much, but would love to see some pics.

Thanks very much. It has the retard timing adjustment switch/knob installed under the dash as well. Calling KB would be my best bet I guess. Thanks for the information.

The kit is either going to be a 1.7 or a 2.2, they're VERY rare to find these days. A buddy of mine has a 2.2 lightning kit in his garage.

As said before, these didn't come with a tune, if your truck is a 5.0 a lot of people do the A9L fox body PCM swap and convert to MAF.

If I owned this I'd look into the feasibility of tuning it for real, possibly with a piggyback chip on the PCM. I don't know about your 93 but my 96 351W is compatible with moates quarterhorse and tweecer.

Post some pics up

I'm not 100% sure but you could probably ditch the Kenne Benne spark thing and run a modern MSD ignition box designed for boost. That would be superior for timing control at least. If you switch it to mass air and change injectors, you will have many more options and probably a better running vehicle.

Everything you need for mass air can be acquired thru a junkyard or ebay. It should be well documented by now and not too hard on the wallet.
