What does it take to pull 500RWHP out of a 2018 Mustang GT?

great achievement, but WAY too much money for the HP. Not only will that setup cost you $40-$50k but it will lose $20k in depreciation. I’m over here with 600 to the tire, zero car payment, and my cobra won’t lose money towards depreciation. It all depends on what’s important to you. Go get the 7 year loan and enjoy I suppose

Dumbest post in this thread! Where is the logic in thinking a $40-50K '18 GT has a different power rating compared to a $30K '18 GT? That has never been the case and didn't start in 2018 either. If you want the extras and niceties, you gotta pay for it. But one can very much buy a base 2018 GT for very similar money to that of a new 2017 GT.

Also, a boosted '18 (or even a boosted '17 for that matter), would run circles around your 600rwhp Cobra.

That ‘18 would likely stay even if not beat his cobra.

smaller engine, 700rpm lower redline, 2.2 points less compression, terrible heads for n/a (FI makes a good band-aid)...makes sense.

making north of 400whp with a 4v 4.6 is possible, just takes time and money.

where can i find more details on this car? Almost 500rwhp on a NA 4v? I didnt think this was physically possible. Ive seen many built 4vs with ported heads and cams struggle to put down 360rwhp, even with new boss blocks punched out to 5.3L.

Are you talking about the 4.6 v8 or v8's from Ford in general?
Ferrari's been doing it with an NA 4.5L v8 (570hp with the 458 italia, 597hp with 458 speciale) why WOULDNT it be possible for Ford to do it with a bigger displacement motor?

I think he is talking about non-coyote 4v engines.

There are guys who are making over 600whp with punched out coyotes/road runners.

i was referring to 4.6L modular v8s which have turrible heads, shrouded valves, tiny cylinder bores...etc. They are lackluster when NA.

all i see from the description is as follows: 4.6 4V - Mod Mafia Performance spec'd and built .020 over 4.6, 11.35:1 CR Diamond pistons custom spec’d by Mod Mafia, 7.5cc dome (The combustion chambers ended up being 4cc bigger than stock with CnC porting by Fox Lake), Fox Lake 2004 C heads, Mod Mafia Performance custom cams, FR500 intake, MSD 6-Mod with stock PCM, 93 octane gas.

doesnt seem out of the the real of possibility. its prolly turning 8000rpm max. bunch of time in to the heads, a god cam, and a great intake. i bet a sully intake would make sense on that car too.

and most 4.6 4v should be easily capable of 360whp with a decent cam, headers, tune, and other smaller mods.

All I see there is a bunch of money. Lol

You'd be better off with an '11-14 GT (or even '15-17) with 6R80, tune and a tire.

I’m not comparing an 18 to a 17 noob. Read what I said. A 2018 with a whipple will run you into the $40-$50k range and be worth $18k in a few years. That’s a huge loss. I never said anything about a terminator being faster either, but mentioned mine is a comparable 600HP (with much more potential mind you), so when I can get similar power for 1/2 the cost AND have it maintain value rather than depreciate it makes the 2018 owner the real loser. Granted people are okay with losing tons of money to get what’s new, but it’s not a good financial investment. youll learn one day when you are rolling you’re 2018 debt into a new car in 2020 on another 8 year loan HA HA

You drive a tin can, plain and simple. These new 5.0s ('15+ really) are leagues beyond a Terminator in performance, safety and technology. And anybody still buying a Terminator these days moving forward is only doing so because it's something they truly want. It's no longer the big value proposition that it once was ($25-30K for either a super clean stock unit or clean, tastefully modified blower-swapped car).

Also, '15-17 cars are making 700-800rwhp pretty reliably, and there's already a couple '18s besting that, but how they hold up remains to be seen. And that's with stock motors and transmissions, save for OPGs/CS in some applications. Buying a brand new car is hardly ever a winning move, and even less so when you modify it/actually drive it.

A better value than a Terminator right now? A '15-17 GT all day. Sure you lose the exclusivity, but aside from that, you make more stock for stock (and NA at that), have a better overall car and a more capable motor. Win win.

I doubt it's 100% accurate given the source lol, but look what a $35K (rough Cobra MSRP) cash buy back in 2004 would buy you today. Again, roughly. You can buy a new GT for much less than $47K. There's no arguing that a Terminator has and will continue to hold its value better than any Mustang GT, but even those values have been dropping if the cars are modified and driven.
