Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

I am so glad I bought my GT350 instead of waiting for the GT500. I am having a great time driving it. I'm just hoping after all the R&D (and hype), it actually gets mass produced.

I know I have been back and forth over getting one, but the reality of it is, unless its a hideous CF, I would love to get one in late 2020. My hopes are that I can trade my Hellcat and my GT350 and get the best of both worlds, but in one car.

Take a look at a few years worth of GT350 Federal Certifications. The effective date/issue dates are typically summer months.

- 2015 MY GT350 was granted a federal certification of authority on June 2, 2015.

- 2016 MY GT350 was granted a federal certification of authority on July 24, 2015.

- 2018 MY GT350 was granted a federal certification of authority on August 14, 2017.

Note that during GT350 production that the applicable exhaust emission standards have changed (look at the Bin/Tier for each of the certifications). My guess would be that the upcoming GT500 will be certified to the same standard for at least two years and it will likely be more stringent than what we see now as the EPA never goes backwards. So this mega-horsepower engine will have to be cleaner than the lower horsepower engine that came before it.

Anyway, if recent history is any indicator we may see the certification pop up within the next three months or so. Here's a great resource for Federal and CARB certs (thanks Ford!).

And to be clear, the Federal Certification is not the same as California's (CARB's in essence). You can thank the Left and the coast they have harvested for this bureacratic cluster****.

Believe me they are not trying to up the power. Power is not a problem.

It's going to be a while. Again.

Any chance of Ford axing it? I know there keeping the Mustang and Focus but with Jamal’s exit?

Virtually no chance of cancellation and I only add the "virtually" because you can't rule out insane unforeseen exogenous circumstances (i.e another global meltdown or 9/11 or something) impacting things. Outside of that, it's happening.

Maybe you should pay attention, my friend died of cancer, so no more info.

Delayed months, 6 months, or a year plus?
