Sup guys!? Havent been on in a while and im probably beating a dead horse, but still have to ask. I recently changed my oil and went to full synthetic 10W30. Now I am a Ford tech turned accounts manager(lol) so I know these cars had 5W30 as the recommended viscosity, but accoriding to the shop manual 10W30 was acceptable. The car has 143k miles and has only bolt ons with 4.30 gears. Anybody experience any engine issues with 10W30? I live in So-California btw, where it doesnt get below 39 or over 110 temp. Engine sounds healthy, but im having a good amount of oil get caught in the oil separator which is the reason I tried 10W30 in addition to someone recommending I should try that. Engine doesnt smoke unless I go WOT and then its only a puff at times. I do add the 7qts and use nothing but motorcraft oil filters with Pennzoil full synthetic. any recommendations? feedback would be really appreciated

I was using full synthetic and was using oil and it was burning it. Switched back to the recommended weight of Motorcraft semi syn, and stopped chewing oil and puffing blue smoke. At 143k miles, I would try switching back to Motorcraft.

I actually thought about doing just that. Ill definitely try that if I feel the car is acting different

You'll be fine.
And remember, oil consumption is a pretty much normal on these motors. Up to 1QT every 3000 miles is acceptable.
Really? Wow! What's the cause?

I mean, that's what mine does but I had no idea that it was normal or acceptable. It also has 226,000 miles on it.

As others have said. There is alot of blow by on these cars. My 97 cobra would use oil. I would have to add a qt about every month or so. At WOT it would get the puff of smoke out the tail pipes. Never seem to effect the performance.

Woa, I never thought it was that much. I use 7qts and change the oil every 3-4 months regardless, but Ive never noticed it being a quart low. It does kind of make sense, seing how my oil separator (steeda type) gets almost filled about every 500 miles it seems like.
