Doesn't bother me at all as long as they keep the Mustang and at least one small car for the masses. They have an excellent line of SUVs/CUVs and right now I'm glued to the Edge. The best vehicle, overall, I've ever owned. I plan to buy an Edge ST when the lease is up on my '16 Edge Sport. I have absolutely no interest in Ford's car line-up at this point.

I understand why they are doing it but it does make me a little upset. I've always liked Fords niche specialty cars. I've owned a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Taurus SHO, Contour SVT, Focus SVT, and now Focus ST. So yeah i hate to see them going away from cars, that being said I had a Jeep GC for a rental a few months ago and with the addition of my son it was really nice having the extra room. I imagine our vehicle lineup in a few years will have an SUV for the wife and a charger scat pack for me.

Can ford finally make a faster Edge now? ~400hp to match the F-Pace in power.

Sure, you can easily tune one, but talking about from factory.

SUVs, CUVs, SAVs, and whatever other 3-letter acronyms they have for chubby sedans are quickly outpacing traditional sedans and getting better gas mileage. The exception are q-tips with handicap tags that drive 20mph under the speed limit.

With that being stated, I live 3 miles from where I work, 2 miles from a grocery store, and that's all I care about.

Seeing as how I didn't like most of their non suv/truck offerings anyway I don't care. I miss my Crown Vic which I liked but oh well. I just wonder if maybe they could not have come up with some sort of high powered sedan that could compete with the Charger which are all over the place.

I bought the 17 fusion sport. It’s quick (13.1 in 1/4) and surprises a lot but the handling leaves something to be desired. Ford doesn’t want to compete in this segment and that’s ok. My next sedan won’t be Ford.

I don't care at all about the Taurus, Focus, or Fiesta, but I was hoping they would keep the Fusion. It seems like they are every 4th car I see here in Houston, hard to believe they aren't profitable enough to keep around. My brother-in-law has a 2012 Titanium with the 2.0t, it's a fun little sedan that still fits a couple of kids in the back comfortably.

As for us we have a Mustang, F-150, and Edge so I guess we fit the narrative Ford is pushing haha.

Just moving with the trend. When we traded our Accord that we liked a lot we went with the Edge. Now on our second one and could not be happier. You will notice most of what you see on the road these days are crossovers, SUV, and trucks.

Upset isn't the correct word. After a 17 year self-imposed boycott, I'm tempting fate as I look for a new Ford and this happens.

I think their strategy will play out well because they're shifting everything to hybrid and electric. Ride sharing is killing the market and used cars are lasting a LOT longer than 20 years ago. They're trying to adapt to the changing market. Straight gas vehicles are on the way out and profits are in SUVs and trucks so it makes complete sense to me.

Probably for the best considering their cars really didn't compete very well in their respective segments, with the exception of the two they're keeping.

Would I prefer to buy a Ford if I were looking for a sedan? Yeah. I hate every other domestic manufacturer. But, Ford has to do what's in the best interests of their business, and this is it.

I am not happy about it all. They are giving up a big market share when they finally stop making the cars. Gas is going up and fast.

Yeah but these CUV's offer equivalent mpg so thats not really an argument there with regards to fuel economy and gas prices. Plus anyone at this point worried about MPG are just getting hybrids, which are no longer relegated to gay Prius.

I don't care. Outside of the Mustang, I would not buy anything they make new. If I needed a truck or SUV I'd be looking at the new Bronco. FiST & FoST used are around $10k now so once they get closer to $5k I might pick one up as a beater because I'm cheap :D

+1

As a future baby daddy in the coming year or two, why would I willingly give up cabin space when the comparable car is just as expensive as the CUV that said baby mama likes.

If I can buy a CUV with 25% more cabin space/storage space, for the same price, the car loses every single time. Gas mileage in negligible. Reliability is about the same. It sits higher for when it floods and its safer in most cases. Better to travel in and gives you better vision on the road.. the perks of a CUV are a mile long. The only time I see it not being a CUV in our future is if we want a full tilt SUV (Expedition or 4Runner etc) for the full frame benefits.

Anyone truly upset with Ford is being very shortsighted

These tiny ass wanna be SUVs are useless anyway. May as well have a sedan. If you want an SUV, get a real SUV. CH-R, CX-3, etc are stupid as ****.

not at my post...

Pretty much this....If I were in the market for a truck, then I would definitely give Fords truck lineup serious consideration, but car wise..The only car that Ford makes that interests me is the Mustang...I would love an FGT, but I am being realistic :D

People either want a sports car or a SUV/Truck now days. Even rental car companies are going with SUV's more and more over sedans. Even a compact SUV /CUV is comparable in operational cost to a compact car like a fiesta for those companies. Families are getting larger again for the first time since the baby boom generation, so now everyone needs a 3rd row. It is the perfect storm.
