I need to remember to do this.

My car would likely never pass most inspections. My window tint alone would kick me.

I am not a fan of the cameras and other invasions of privacy. I have to wonder where some of the BS you guys deal with stands legally. It may have passed a committee vote somewhere, but that doesn't make it legal.

It is pretty annoying. I don’t think the cameras even get looked at by anyone unless a clearly illegal car has a good recent sticker on it then I think the state looks back at all the cars that shop did. My dealership just put a good sticker on a slammed 2015 challenger with really dark tint and loud exhaust.

To me, all of this is so un-American...

The nanny state, lack of personal liberties, the pursuit of happiness...

Sure, we all want clean air to breathe, but so much of this is pure political agenda and way over the top.

yea i had contacted pete last year regarding the MAC flag and we discussed me getting my sticker first, then seeing him after for a new catless tune.

im going to borrow my friends code reader and try to complete the drive cycle/check the codes after to see if i can get them to supported status. has anyone ever heard of the sheet this guy is talking about or is he just blowing smoke up my ass? If i can get them supported i want to just go back and have him re-inspect. but i dont want to show up without said sheet and get turned away. im sure you could just say 'well when i got to the dealer they verified that i was okay and sent me on my way...'

Discussion won't get it fixed. Make the appointment and have it fixed permanently.

I have heard of the needing to get reflashed by the dealer if you fail Mac. Not sure about ford, but i know toyota you can not flash the factory ecm back to stock after it’s been calibrated to something else. That being said, Becsuse we use hand held tuners for our cars, I’m sure all they want is for the return to stock tune back on it and have the dealership print out that all the monitors are supported from the scan tool

Just to add some experiences for the Massholes with cars not to far from stock.

Just back with a legit sticker.
14 GT 7160 miles with Track Key, Bob separator, lowered slightly with Boss sidepipes and GT500 single tips and a bunch of other stuff that wouldn’t matter.

Pulled in and had it running in lopey idle mode, asked him to jack the car using the jacking rails.
“No problem even though we are instructed to use the A arm”

They told me if it doesn’t have a check engine lite passes the diagnostic and it’s not scraping the ground no issues. They look for missing cats but he didn’t look for mine(they are there)

Good luck

been reading through this thread and wow, didn't realize MA has gotten so bad. I just passed with my new 96 cobra without any issues. Is the new system more for newer cars? Was thinking of throwing a catless x pipe on the cobra, is that going to be an instant fail or will a 96 be fine (emissions exempt)?

from the sounds of it looking back at this thread, my chances don't sound good. At least I just got a sticker so I have a year to go again, and if I do throw that catless x pipe on, and have to put the stock one back to pass, it will be may and not january :-D

Odds are it’ll be fine. It will only fail If the inspector actually looks under the car to see the cats. No one has ever looked under any of my cars.

They take photos of the front/rear and speedometer. Also the door jambs.
They also take photos of the undercarriage of the vehicle. The inspector also has to take a photo of himself to verify whom inspected the vehicle.

I know. I work at a dealership. We have 6 inspectors. None of them ever take photos under the car lol. Only plates and speedo and jambs
