I'm really wanting to learn how to weld as it seems to be a skill that could prove to be helpful long term. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good welder for a beginner? I'm mainly wanting to make sure I can weld exhaust pipe and make my own custom brackets for some of my other hobbies. Would be nice to be able to weld sub frame connectors as well at some point.

I've been thinking about a flux core welder so I don't have to source and store gas as well. Got a budget of about $500.

***edit - Forgot to add that I only have 120V in my shop.

Flux core doesn't suck.. I recently used one to change the floor pans on my 67. It's just a messy cleanup.

Stick with a MIG welder. I would go with a flux core if you're on a budget or don't really have access to a garage (wind purposes).
