what percentage of turbo coyotes have (built) engines

I'm guessing the turbo guys / gals are more prone to having a built engine because there's sooo much left on the table by not going built. Just curious how many of the coyote turbo cars you've seen have had an upgraded motor as well? I'm considering doing a built engine at the same time as adding the turbo if I can swing it, mainly to save the work of removing and re-installing the kit a second time.

Probably 25% or so id say. Thats the issue with a Turbo kit is u end up making so much power with it and its endless with which Turbo u chose so u have to build the bottom end to take advantage of it otherwise its kinda useless imo but u got an auto so ur half way there!

U really don't need anything crazy either. A decent set of pistons and rods and a few minor other things will get it done but building the motor is the same thing tho so most ppl want to do it right the first time thinking ahead buy going with Billet I-Beams and sleeves if one can afford but if u do it right the first time ur power becomes endless basically at least as far as what u can ever use on the street.

Yeah, if I do happen to go "built", right now I'm thinking stronger rods, pistons, adjusted ring-gap, and heavier valve springs, but after a few years of running like that, I'm almost certain in wishing I had ported heads, cams, sleeves, etc. I just don't want my wife to shoot me, Hahahaha! Right now after paying for the turbo, she might be wondering about the stall change, tuning, expensive boost controller that's inevitably closing in on the deal.

I was in the same boat as u bro last year and was like if I can make 800 whp I will be happy for life and don't need sleeves, Turbo cams, ported heads etc....

But I plan on being buried in this car so I opted for better parts that will likely last a lifetime. It all depends on ur goals with the car and if u plan on keeping it or not cause u take an absolute bath when u sell modified shit. Me personally I'm tired of building shit then selling it my plan is to keep this one forever.

Yeah, my 11 with the Coyote, good factory auto trans, and being an S197 that makes drag racing traction promissing, has made this car a keeper for me, unlike many other cars I've modded and sold, aka (lost my ass), hahaha!

I bought mine with a built motor and good clutch already installed. Saved me a lot of money and time doing it that way. Never really pushed hard though.
BTW, it's probably going up for sale in a month or so.

If you already have a built engine, and turbo system, I'd have to say you should turn it up to at least 8-900 whp before selling, you might just change your mind.

I'm not so sure about that, I have had mine turned up to 15psi and you just realize that much power is worthless as a driver. It is fun, but gets old not being able to use the power. I used to like going to the track but the majority of the fast cars here run 11's. There might be one or two cars that can break 11's, but even those cars can't keep up so I always end up racing myself when I go and that also gets old.

I went from a stock motor/mt82 combo pushing 800 wheel, to a sleeved motor/th400... SOOO worth it.. whomever doesn't think its fun to be at 1000+ wheel on the highway doing a pull to scare someone. (we've all done highway pulls, come on) Granted you have to tweak some suspension and boost ramp, but that 60-120 in a couple seconds or less.... is just Priceless!

Oh and driveability with th400, is just fine.

The main reason I haven't turned it up is just fact that I'm at the octane limit of 93. We don't have much E85 around here, and I don't feel like putting in expensive race gas, or finding a tuner who is competent tuning for methanol injection.

It's still a lot of fun at 630ish whp as far as I'm concerned.

Yea 630 whp is no joke! Thats what mine made last year on about 10 lbs of boost and I just wasn't hookn them 19 inch DR's ever and it definitely got away from me a couple times luckily I didn't hit notn!

I put a Mustang in the woods a few years ago lol so I'm gonna try to keep my foot out of the new build but I plan on being just about that 650-700 ish for the street tune on pump 93 and probably 8 lbs of boost which is what the spring in the WG is set at. And then one for 15-16 lbs of Boost for the Track.

U don't have to tune for Methanol. U can use it as insurance to just cool things down more. Where I live in Southern Connecticut there is virtually zero E85 stations but endless ones in NY its so corny smh.

It's weird how sparatic E85 selling stations are. Locally, there's 4 stations, 100 miles away in the town I race in, there's nothing. "Corny," I picked up on that one!!

:DYea its nuts bro the same here. The track is literally a 100 miles from me in NY at Lebanon Valley drag way and there are E85 stations everywhere there but none here.
