the UPS store is your problem. I worked with a guy and his dad owned one of those places. Go directly through UPS or a FedEx branch
hell, a FedEx pack and ship wanted $11 to ship a set of clunk washers (box was like 3.5"x2"x1.5" and weighed under 8ounces). I took that shit to USPS and it was like $3.50
can he not break the exhaust down any further? They usually tell you the maximum dimensions before they screw you good on over sized freight

I was curious what i could ship the box that you first gave dimensions for so I sent them to my shipping department. This is what they sent back. This from Utah to 30814.

I’d most certainly go with greyhound. Only biggie is pickup is also at their stations and not home delivery. But I’ve shipped two bumper from Texas to California for 90 bucks and a set of wheels/tires for under 100 as well.

Did they check residential delivery for the quote you pictured? That will make a big difference.
Yes. Residential delivery makes up a large portion of our parcel and LTL shipments.
I'm doing all I can to find a way around the nasty shipping charge.

This makes you wonder about buying exhausts from manufacturers that have "free" shipping.
Working on that now. I did an online USPS quote and actually got a respectable price.
If I was going to be a baller I would have gone after the $3000 exhaust listed a few weeks back.

Try Fastenal ( fastener and a little of anything company) we shipped a motor from SC to TX for a little more than 1/2 of what ups or USPS wanted .
