Does anyone out there think there’s a bubble right now in the terminator market? I read over and over again about how these are future “collectors” cars and some people think the price is going nowhere but up from here (or at least not depreciating further). Seems like low mileage cars are commanding top dollar right now, or people are at least trying to ask top dollar... However, with production numbers of 19k+ in just 2 years, are they really that rare? How many sub-20,000 mile cobras are in the market section for sale right now!? I look up slightly older cars that have gone up significantly in value (Supras, certain porshces, and other exotics come to mind mostly) and the production numbers are far less than these.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my terminator, and I paid a premium for my low mileage 1 owner SB coupe last year. But I didn’t buy it because I think it’s going to be collectors car. I did it because this was my dream car back then and something I always wanted. Seems like nowadays a lot of people are holding on to these cars and really watchin how many miles get put on them, but is it really worth it or should we just enjoy them for what there are? Maybe these cars will go up in value. I don’t know. I do know I’m certainly not holding onto mine as an investment though. What do you guys think?

I think you should enjoy it mine has 20,000 miles but I see some cobras with 50,000 to higher miles like 90,000 and still asking 18-20 k

It's way to early to think about these cars as a collectable. Enjoy it for what ever reason you bought it. Who knows what will give gearheads a hard on, 30 or 40 years from now.

Bubble? Yes, absolutely. I could easily sell my '04 Cobra for more than I bought it for 8 years ago. I don't plan on ever selling it though. One of my kids will get it some day. I hope that's a long time from now but that's a whole other Oprah show.

Prices will go down the older they get as financing them will be difficult. This will cause the price to drop. After that happens they will finally bottom. They buyers of these cars typically are not cash buyers.

I’m guilty of only putting like 1k miles a year on mine. However unless I really needed cash I wouldn’t sell for less than I paid for it.

They "bottomed" a couple years ago or last year. Prices are going up.

Financing or not, I see these cars continuing to tick upwards. Only so many were made for a short time. They ushered in a whole new era of boosted muscle cars. Low mile examples will continue to command strong prices with a positive trend and specialty versions like Mystichrome or 10th anniversary will command a premium on top of the strong prices.

Yes, it’s a rosey picture, but it’s an iconic car and many were road hard/put away wet. Pristine survivors will be popular.

Well I stand by on what I said- basic economics! I want to see these cars go up without a doubt but any fluctuations in pricing now are results of easy ways to purchase “financing”. Once that goes away it drastically reduces the ability to purchase for many which will drive prices down. They have not hit bottom yet however when they finally do it will take a while for them to slowly come back. There is no doubt the terminator is the father of today’s HP wars and will have their place in collectible history!

I still hold out hope to catch the unsuspecting newbie. It could happen. Timing is everything.

If you fall down the stairs, have yer wife call me immediately.
This is why I posted it on Craigslist. There will always be that guy like me, who looked for three years, then one appeared right in his zip code, owned by the same guy for ten years, who rarely drove it, but took care of it, and the car was never owned more than 40 miles away from here, oh, and totally unmolested. Somebody, somewhere, sometime, will pay a premium for that. Hopefully.
I did, anyway.
