I’m heading to Hilton Head for two short getaway trips this year. One at the end of April and another over Labor Day weekend. Each trip is 4 days with three early rounds of golf maybe 2 rounds on the second day. Looking for some ideas for things to do after, So mid afternoon-on.

First trip is with the guys the second is with my wife, a close friend and his wife.

I grew up there. It's a beautiful place to be lazy and do nothing.

Savannah is just a quick drive over the river. After River Street is absorbed there isn't much to do there except eat, and drink if that's your thing. If history is something you enjoy, Savannah is full of interesting learning experiences.

Charleston will be a bit further to your North, and holds a ton of history.

One of my favorite places in the world. We get down there once a year. This year we will be going down in April for the PGA tours RBC Heritage.

What part of the island are you staying?

I would suggest renting some bikes. The rental comapnies will have your bikes there and waiting for you and they will pick them up after you leave. You can bike anywhere on the island.

Tons of nice restaurants and places to get drinks. Kind of depends on what part of the island you are staying on as to what I would recommend.

Harbour Town is a must to check out. It costs $5 to get through the gate at Sea Pines to get to harbour town unless you are staying in sea pines then you should have your pass.

Also paddle boarding in the marsh is a great idea as well.

We’re really looking to just be lazy and drink good beers and eat good food and relax. I’ve been doing golf trips with my close friends for a few years and I’ve also been doing a few short trips a year with my wife. We’ve just decided to try and combine the two.

If only I could get her to want to go to Scotland...

I could go on forever here I'll just leave you with these ideas. Here are a few places you will want to check out.

In Harbour Town:
  • The QuarterDeck
  • Great food and drinks on the water over looking the 18th at Harbour Town.
  • Harbour Town Burgers and Brews
  • Same area as the QuarterDeck - over looks the Harbour Town marina. Great Beer selection.

Marley's Island Grill
  • Absolutely amazing food and drinks - No views though but worth a stop.

Coligny Plaza (central part of the island with beach access)
  • the Sandbar beach eats (great place for lunch and drinks)
  • Frosty Frog Cafe ***Take Note*** They serve everything in large Styrofoam cups...EVERYTHING! so order you a water and a mixed drink or 3, then when you leave you can walk out with your "water"...
I haven't found a breakfast place I dont like.

instead of going to savannah, id say take a quick 25min drive up to beaufort, SC. Way less touristy, good food, good beaches, no traffic and no crowds. Hunting island state park has a good amount of beach, biking/hiking trails, light house and picnic areas. Downtown there's enough shopping, food art galleries and historical tours for at least a full day.

Ya dont forget the Tanger Outlets for shopping. Wife always makes me stop at any of them when ever we get near them.

Go to Tybee Island or Jekyll Island for a neat beachtown feel.

Or, if you're more adventurous, get a ferry ticket to Bull Island and explore the island for a full day. I'll give you a fair warning- if you don't go prepared, you will severely regret it. Some people go, walk across the island to the beach, and sit there until the ferry comes back. Not very difficult. Want a real adventure? Take the morning ferry and try to circle the entire island by beach before the last ferry call is done. Don't be late- Coast Guard has to come rescue you. 100+ acres, 30 people on the island, and most of them hang out near the drop point. The rest of the island is yours to explore.

For some reason I forgot about Beaufort. Great place. It was a dump when I was a kid, but it has developed into a great place. To hang out at and enjoy the low country.
