All these graveyard pics. I can't believe they don't have a better way to dispose of, or otherwise recycle old airplanes.

looking at pics of Davis Monthan is crazy, the amount of money just wasting away

They’re actually done like that on purpose. The airframes are in various states of regeneration. Meaning if WW3 broke out the planes could “easily” be spun back up into service.

Wait....wut? So they're not actually graveyards, but more like genesis chambers for aircraft?

the dry arid climate in the desert actually keeps corrosion at a minimum, almost nill...many of those planes can be made airworthy fairly quickly and others used for parts etc...

Yup

I was stationed at DM for 6 1/2 years.
