I'm in the market for a new toy. I was leaning towards a Gt500 but and couple 11-14 Stage 3 Roush cars have caught my eye.

Which would you pick? Both would be low miles in the same price range.

I would say if you don’t care about the latest and greatest or the newest, fastest, then you’ll never regret owning a Shelby gt500, fast from the factory and responds really well to minimal mods.

I like Roush products but there's no doubt about which car I'd buy. If I bought the Roush, I'd always be thinking I really wanted a Shelby ... The real question for you may be which year mustang you want. If you like the 2011-14 better, buy that year Shelby.

I had a 2011 5.0 before my 08 GT500 and you can definitely feel the weight difference/nimbleness. The GT500 seats are just as comfortable. While driving at crazy high speeds on the autobahn the brakes worked better on the 5.0. Braking in the GT500 from 160mph is scary. My vote is for the Roush Stage 3. Depending on which year Roush you get its power is similar. Coyote engines can perform the same as a GT500, better ride, better interior, improved technology.

Are these in the same price range? In January I looked at a 2014 Stage 1 that the dealer wanted 32k for.

I understand the dilemma. I went through same internal debate last year and ended up buying a Roush, but only because it was a rare edition that hardly anyone else has, plus the seller had done a ton of high quality mods to it. I have been happy taking it to car shows because no one else has one.

Good post and absolutely true. The 07-10 cars feel heavy AF because they are. Iron block--while tough as nails--is one heavy SOB and the cars handling is absolutely negatively effected.

That said, Shelby will hold value better and motor/trans are both more stout than an 11-14 RS3 Roush.

My GT500 had ~650 whp and it was FUN AS HELL. I do miss it, but if/when I do it all over again, the 15+ coyote motors are NO JOKE and will take 800hp on the chin all day long.

Cant go wrong any way you choose to be honest.

If you want a manual GT500 all the way no looking back. The 07-09 gt500 will feel heavier. Doing some suspension work makes these cars handle much better. The 5.4 with a pulley or adding another blower wakes these cars up. The amount of low end tq is great. The whole RPM band has power.

I did have a 2013 5.0 GT M6 and A6. I have to say the M6 with the MT82 IMO was great as a DD but terrible for performance, and tracking. You would get locked out of gears at high RPM. As for the A6 auto, that trans was great for everything IMO, great DD, nice firm shifts when tuned and faster than the M6. Also would handle the drag strip much better and was just as good in back road cornering.

i have a vmp tvs s550 and its an awesome car to drive and the interior is very comfortable. my biggest issues with the car are the lack of torque and the POS MT82 has me worried its going to shatter any second. its been a great car besides those 2 things. with that said im planning on getting into a 12 Perforance pack Shelby in the near future. the TR6060 and solid rear are enticing, and they can make 750-800 with ease on e85 and a tvs.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm on the hunt! If anyone knows of any cars that are for sale that aren't posted in the market let me know.

Found a white 08 and a vista blue 08 both under 25k miles.

Also found a 2011 Roush 5xr with only 2k miles.

Leaning towards a gt500 but that Roush is tempting with the super low miles.

Might go look at a few cars this weekend.
