Looking for suggestions on suspension upgrades. Lots of power, but rides like a tank. Thinking about coilovers or anything that will make this car feel roadworthy. Looking for suggestions with details.

01 cobra vert, 820 rwhp, 8.8 SRA 3.55, TH400, 2.9 Whipple

Thanks

You’re making 820rwhp on stock suspension? Bet it’s interesting. BMR makes good drag suspension. You’ll need a lot more than just coilovers.

Pick your poison.

I climbed under the car today. It does have a sub frame connector, rear QA1 shocks, adjustable lower control arms, and 90/10 struts. The lower control arms are adjusted all the way up, and the QA1's are all the way to the plus, stiff. Along with the 90/10 struts I figure that's why this thing rides like a tank.

I will start with lowering the control arms and adjusting the QA1's a few clicks from the minus side. But, I will replace the struts to something more streetable.

Any suggestions on struts that work well with these cars and my combination. It will see the track a few times...

The op’s car

The OP’s car has a solid rear axel so the link you provided is useless.

Ride quality mainly depends on springs and shocks so I would suggest a phone call to maximum motorsports as they are the most knowledgeable on that subject.

I will check them out. Thanks..

I'm still a fan of Bilsteins. Konis aren't bad either. Viking seems to be gaining popularity in the Mustang world. Adjusting the shocks/struts should make a difference. One click softer made a noticeable difference on my son's car. And it has KYB's. Are you looking to make it more road course and less drag type?

Are there any issues with mounting front coilovers on an 01? Will they bolt up without any modifications to the car?

There's a tab you'll need to bend for clearance on the driver side. And you'll need the 4 bolt caster/camber plates. Beyond that it's pretty easy to put them on.

Not entirely useless, as it talks about subframes and such....
but thanks for the kind response.
