I don't know why anyone ever thought the GT350 was done in 18. The "final year is 18" is another apocryphal Mustang-related story. Things get extensions approved or canned but there was never a "this is strictly a limited X year" run deal for this car.

Weird, I could of sworn I read on the other Mustang forum that 2018 was the last year. (Probably more people talking out of their ass again. lol I do know that they don't ship the R cars during the winter months because of the tires.)
Either way, doesn't really matter. No new GT500 till 2020 anyways. lol

it also helps with excitement and "Buzz" if they don't reveal all the plans. If they said in 2015 it was going to be availiable until 2019 there wouldn't be such a rush to get them in 2016/2017. Much like for 2011/12 GT500, they aren't going to tell you that the plan is to have a 662 horsepower GT500 for 13/14

Basically since 2007 dudes have been claiming each successive specialty Mustang has a purely artificial production cap or end date, and it's never true.

I don't even think the halo GT is capped yet?
Its best to just wait it out and ride the wave and purchase fords specialty vehicles at the end of the production run, that way ADM is gone, and you pretty much know what your getting into as far as production numbers.
I'm sure that the GT350's will be sitting in dealerships for a long time to come.

If Ford keeps moving the target down range, GM is going to do to Ford what Ford did to ZL1 when they introduced the 2013 GT500.
I wonder if the new DOHC 32 valve SC 775+ HP GM V-8 will fit in the next gen Camaro?

Of Course it will, and the CTS-v. GM has the luxury of amortizing badass engines across multiple vehicles.

yep, and that's what I think they will do. ME corvette will be in production in summer 2019 and ZR1 production will be done.
drop 755HP into the 1LE ZL1

Yes Sir, time to go back to sleep. set the alarm clock for NAIAS 2019 before we get specifics on this GT500. Should be a good show, as we will get specifics on the GM ME as well.

The reason I think the GT350 is done after 2018 is because they didn't change anything along with the rest of the Mustang lineup refresh. The updates to the GT and in the case of the PP Level 2 close the performance gap significantly with at least the regular GT350. Hence why it feels like the GT350/GT350R was a carryover until the GT500 was ready. Otherwise it would have been update as well.

Since the thread is about being frustrated over this release... You see Shelby American just released a wide-body kit for the S550? I'm getting tired of buying new cars every time something new comes out. Ford really had my attention with the new GT500 hype for the last 2 years... but I am bored and the excitement is wearing off. I may put a blower and a wide-body on my GT350 and just enjoy it.

My biggest frustration is that I am tired of waiting and there will always be something new to waste money on. I'm kinda tired of it. Don't get me know... I love that its happening and watching it has been awesome, but I don't think I want to play the game anymore. I want to retire soon and I am not wealthy. Buying 2 or 3 cars that are $75k+ every 2 years is getting to freakin' expensive.

I am with you...this is an expensive game for sure! I feel somewhat badly for the people who want a crack at this new GT500- the anticipation would be driving me insane if I was in the market (alas I am not, but I do have car enthusiast interest for sure)...luckily I am still in love with my 2014 GT500 that I have had since its birth- that is where I am choosing to put my energies and funds...the 2015+ models do not excite me aesthetically and I have a feeling that the GT500 will have exceptional technology while following suit with the 2015+ styling. I buy things strictly on looks and reliability, not technology...so, it can be the fastest and most technologically advanced machine out there but if it is not aesthetically pleasing then it will not find its way into my garage. Plus, generally speaking, in my opinion, you can modify many many mustangs to make them faster and more powerful and handle as well as what is coming down the pike off the assembly line! Now if somehow a miracle happens and this new GT500 LOOKS as good as or better than the 2014 does to me, then I might have a problem- but by then something else will have my attention at this rate.

Have not totally written it off but i’m very close. Just like many here, I was anticipating the return ‘18 MY.

As it sits now I’d say there is a 5% chance I’ll get it, and if ford turned around and said forget it, we’re not going to make it, it wouldn’t hurt me none.

The 350 definitely could have been done at the conclusion of 18. I'm just saying there was never an artificial time duration or unit cap placed on the car a la "only available for two years" or "only 5000 units" etc. There definitely always seem to be people pitching that the Shelby cars are somehow capped in this manner, and they just aren't, which is not even to say they don't build less than the market demands...

IDK that we still won't see it this year. So many things said it was ready for production, including photos, insider info, release of teaser, in the wild video and leaked Ford documents confirming no NA GT350, but a FI GT500 motor for this year. Seems odd, guess we will see.
