We all know it was said. Venom Kills Demons. But do you guys really think that was a smart thing for Ford to say. Let's break it down. How in the world is the GT500 going to put down a better certified 1/4 time than 9.65@140mph?

If you are going to go on record and say the GT500 KILLS a Demon...won't it have to beat this time?

And everyone in the world knows the Demon was designed for the 1/4 track. Not a track. So if Ford backtracks this comment and starts saying it will Kill a Demon on lap times, they look silly. The Demon isn't designed for a track.

When Dodge marketed the Demon, they didn't come out and make bold statements like this without backing them up. In fact they kept the Demon's performance numbers a total secret until the reveal @NYC AutoShow.

What happens when the GT500 finally comes out and it doesn't best the Demon's certified times? Every headline is going to be...Venom Doesn't Kill Demons.

I work in marketing / communications for a living. And dumb statements like this can really hurt a companies marketing efforts. Yes they will sell every GT500 they make so you could argue marketing doesn't matter. But we all know in the enthusiast community, bragging rights mean a lot to people. Now on every Demon video on YouTube the Ford fans are saying "Venom Kills Demons"...I mean come on, really?

Dodge has made a stellar product and got it to customers when they said they would. Ford has taken FOREVER and a DAY to make the GT500. And where is it? When is it even coming out? By the time it arrives, you know Dodge is going to be releasing a whole new monster. My point is...Ford needs to put up or shut up. All we've had are words and nothing real to react to. I highly doubt the GT500 will KILL the Demon's record setting time. What do you think?

Only time will tell if the comment was a mistake or not. Maybe Ford Performance will offer a GT500 Drag Pack that does beat the Demon for 1/4 mile use.

People are already in the 9s @136. More seat time and right conditions and we will see 9.65. Regardless, with race gas, the Demon is Dyno'ing 780bhp to the wheels. How the hell is Ford going to Kill that?

Im sure it will be faster going in circles for hours but if that is their claim to "Being Faster" then it will be just that "Silly".

Today and any day after when a muscle car says is the "Fastest" it will be judged on 1/4 mile times only which really puts the car at a disadvantage for many potential owners cause some really want a great handling sports car thats fast and a car built and designed for the 1/4 mile just won't have that.

Although, I bet the Demon handles a LOT better then ppl give it credit for but I'm sure the GT500 will be a mix bag of tricks and not just one.

And we all know its not "Venom" that kills Demons its Holy Water so maybe the GT500 will have Holy water stored somewhere....:p

Does it matter considering the Demon hasn’t been 9.65@140 in anyone’s hands other than Dodge as of yet?

easy buddy, its still February. I have no doubt the cars will be running similar times. The customers that own the cars are also not nearly as well-versed with high performance vehicles as the drivers that get these times......

Rome wasn't built in a day :)

In my mind, the Dodge Demon does one thing and one thing only. If the GT500 can come out and be a better track car, be a better street car, and be within shouting distance of a very dedicated car in the 1/4, then yes, consider Demon killed.

See that’s not how I see it

We can all agree the demon was built with one intended purpose. Straight line speed.

Unless the GT500 runs faster, it’s not ‘killing’ shit.

There’s cars here that would walk a Lamborghini in a 50 roll, but does that make it a BETTER car? Ehh.....

I love the Demon and would own one today if I could afford it—period. I dig it... fender flares and all (I’d actually buy a hellcat with the flares).

Thread premise is just strange IMO considering the Demon hasn’t yet hit it’s published targets.

Ford knows what the Demon is...a drag car. To say Venom Kills Demons is indicating it will beat the Demon in a drag race. Again. There is NO WAY it will. 780bhp to the WHEELS in the Demon. The GT500 won't even have that at the crank.

And those saying if it tracks better will consider it a kill. Come on! It's like saying Connor McGregor KILLS Flloyd Mayweather. Sure in an MMA fight he would. But in Boxing, look what happened. The Demon is a Boxer. The GT500 will be an all around fighter.

The question is....why get yourself worked up over something you know nothing about? Wait until the GT500 hits the market. Then praise or criticize.

personally, i have heard more than enough about this new gt500 and it is not even out yet...renderings, multi-year rumors and guesses about release dates and power numbers and model years, teaser videos, silly quotes (enter venom kills demons...wtf), disagreements between people about what it is going to be able to do and how it compares to cars that have actually been out for a while, blah blah blah friggin blah...at this point, I feel like one of 2 things will happen- this is going to be an epic failure OR it is going to be the next coming (but anything less than the next coming will be an epic failure in my opinion at this point). however, the longer they wait the better chance that someone like Chevy or Dodge or who knows who else is going to come out with something in the meantime that will rain on the parade- or it will wait til this gt500 comes out before raining on the parade. yeah, there will always be brand fanboys so no matter what the car will sell, but i sure would hate for this car not to be the dream ride that so many people claim and wish for it to be. til then, i am going to continue to love my 2014 and modify it however i want. i SO want this car to be the shiznit if for no other reason than for Ford to succeed. i just hope they know what they are doing.

I'm quite certain they are capable. I just hope that those in the position to heavily influence what this car ends up becoming are making or have made choices that we here are going to love.

what's better than a big ass boosted car?

I like where they are going with the gt, but where the F is that 427?

You can round up all the ecoboost bs and send it over to subaru! They love love that stuff. Not for v8 people and never will be.

Pretty much broseph.

In your mind a lot happens, unfortunately not a lot makes sense.

Demon is 1/4 mile focused but still does a lot of other things well.

Unless the new GT500 comes out with a faster 1/4 mile, Demon not killed.
