So ive just bought a 2009 GT500. I called ford and its had the TSB done for the clutch, however, the clutch doesnt engage until the very top of the travel. Ive talked to a few friends they have them, and they say its not normal. The clutch only has 20k miles on it. The car is bone stock. What are the chances they installed the wrong slave cylinder? Ive unhooked the clutch line and bled some fluid and it got better for a few miles.. but its back to almost being let all the way out before it engages.

Any thoughts before i take it to the dealer?

After replacing the OEM clutch in my 07 I had to install a RAM pedal height adjustment system to get it to engage at the bottom.

They couldn't have put in the wrong slave. The new slave for the organic clutch is about half the height.

Now if you car got a TSB but didn't get the "latest" which is basically the 2013/14 clutch, and it got the 2nd revision TSB which is the Nickel clutch you've got the older slave.

Neither one should disengage at the very top. Something is wrong with the setup.

My car has the 2013 clutch in it and it drives like a Honda with very little pedal effort and is extremely easy to slip.

I'm wondering if you have a Ford clutch in there or if it's aftermarket. No way of knowing unless you pull the tranny, but at that point you might as well install a new clutch... the job is a PITA

My 2008 had a stock clutch until 15k miles (replaced it with an RXT) and it released at a high point also. I have read that the stock clutches are prone to this and it’s normal.

Its definitely a ford clutch, it has the latest TSB at least according to ford, it has also had the trans replaced under warranty as well

My RXT and factory clutch had (have) high engagement points. Im curious as hell about the RAM device, but pricewise its halfway to a RJM master cylinder with built in height adjustment:

Email Ryan if youre interested. Last time we spoke he said they should be out around at least now, but that could have changed.

After having my RXT for 20k miles, I can say that I absolutely hated that with a passion. I’m running the Centerforce DYAD and that thing is amazing, beyond amazing. Great catch point, 1-2 shift isn’t as notchy, and it feels solid. I know that doesn’t help you, but if you hate it and are going to upgrade, then mah e RXT isn’t for you.
