Being that the 93R's are coming up on 25 years young would anyone have any interest in getting together around the Woodward Dream cruise for a reunion of sorts?

If there's enough interest I'll work on putting something special together.

Wow! That would be really cool. I was there last August as all Viper owners were invited to the Connor Ave. (Viper) plant closing ceremony in Detroit. After the closing festivities, we wet to M1 and saw everyone gearing up for the Dream Cruise. Wanted to stay longer than I did, but I would definitely go back. What an amazing place and great time it was. Please keep us posted if in fact this comes together.

Would love to, but I’m in Texas without a car trailer. I don’t see it happening.

Dave...are trailering your car?

Nope, my car has never been trailered ever in its 43,000 Miles.

It’s only a 12-14 hour ride with no ac in the middle of summer lol

I’ve actually driven the car back to Detroit 4 or 5 times over the years for the Woodward dream cruise, twice to Gingerman raceway, which is another three hours more from Detroit, and once more in 2001 for the SVT experience.

When is it, and how is lodging? I've thought about going over, but worry about the car on an open trailer near Detroit

I’ve always stayed in Dearborn or Allen Park. Very safe areas with plenty of hotels, restaurants, etc.

Never had a problem in all the years I’ve been going to Detroit for shows and the Dream Cruise, which is on the third Saturday of August every year, so we would be talking the week of to do things leading up to this.

+1 Detroit proper has changed HUGE for the better over the last decade or so, but the area of the Dream Cruise is ~8 miles north in the towns of Royal Oak, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hils and further north etc. Very nice areas.

The actual day of the Dream Cruise is the most fun in MASSIVE traffic you will ever have.

When I was there last August I couldn’t believe how nice it was. It was my first time in Detroit and while there were certainly areas that looked down trodden, it looked like it was thriving as well. Lots of new hotels, cool places to eat and more nice cars in one place than I had ever seen before (might have added to my positive perception).

First thing I saw when we arrived at the restaurant we were eating at was a NFGT parked on the sidewalk. I couldn’t get out of the car fast enough so I could go see it. The other cool thing was there were cars floating around that hadn’t really even come out yet like the Dodge Demon with manufacturer tags driving on Woodward.

I would love to go back.

That is a 3 day drive one way for me. Doubt I will make that trip, especially since mine is a track only vehicle.

I think it is a great idea.

The Mustang Club of America is looking at doing a driving event in 2019 that will be centrally located in the country in the Summer if the plans all come together. This will be a mini anniversary event.

I can update as it happens. I know they would welcome R owners and let us make it an R meet for us.

Tom
