I made a conservative 450hp with a tune only 17' 3.5 F150. Its getting retuned come spring with e30. Its tuned by a local guy whom is a former mechanical engineer, now he just tunes full time. This guy writes his own programs to piggy back onto what ever tuner he is using, in my case he used HP tuners so he can tune the trans as well. Super Super smart guy. He does a lot of work for the local ford dealerships when they cant figure something out. They can see how many times its been flashed, then compare it to their systems. He was very informative and showed me comparisons of previous mail order tunes I had Vs. his tune. He also showed me as well that the "stock" tune that was assigned to your vehicle may not be the one that was returned to your vehicle via your tuning device. For instance, he said there was around 17 different stock tunes for the 17 3.5 F150, Well the one that was stored on my device wasn't the one that originated from my trucks computer. So he remapped it back to the correct one.
My wife drives the car 99% of the time so an email tune was good enough for the 1% I drive it. I am stuck in the minivan because I work 50 miles from the house vs her 6 and I also use it for work sometimes.

I like the first and third wheel pic Bob. I also have painted some of my track Mustang wheels with the matte black spray can paint from Advance Auto. If you do a good prep job they actually come out real nice. I had to do a repair job on my wifes 2016 Fusion black wheel. I would have to show you where the repair is for you to see it.

Some tint on those front windows would really make your Edge pop.

As far as the dealer being able to tell if it is tuned. Who cares? We're car guys. We mod cars. It's what we do. This thread has inspired me to order the Livernois tuner for my Fusion 2.0.
If you havent already orderd one i can help you out with getting one of them on order, if you already have it how are you enjoying it? We have been getting huge amounts of great feedback on all of our programmers!

Congrats on making the front page, Bob! If I were you, I'd paint the stock wheels black and tint the front windows. I spent waaaay to much time trying to get the red calipers to look half decent.

I am looking for a vehicle with utility. I have followed your posts of the Edge Sport. Prior to tune, what was your ave. gas mileage and what changes, if any, occurred with tune.

Thanks, Jeff

Not that our Edge is tuned but we average 19 to 21 mpg in stock form with our Edge. My wife has a lead foot. They are so roomy and great for tall guy like me. That is what sold us on the Edge. Ours will soon be tuned thanks to Cobrabobs review. Hopefully, Livernois will cut me a deal!..........

That doesn't look bad at all. An option for sure. I was thinking, though, about using the existing wheel/tire setup for next winter, and a new set of black wheels with a summer tire for spring, summer and fall. I'll have to see what kind of a package I can put together and see which way to go. Thanks for doing the Photoshop. Helps me decide I hope.

I haven't done an actual study comparison, but it seems that I'm getting better mileage with the tune. But that isn't a "sure" answer for you. Sorry. If I check the mileage with the tune I'll try to remember to post it here.

Joel, I'm actually pretty close to pulling the trigger on a set of wheels almost identical to your photo. They're factory take-offs refinished in PVD black chrome from Detroit Wheel.

I have had thoughts about going with black wheels, but not the factory black. They're crazy expensive.

Spend ten American dollars and dip them black. The coating is rather durable and lasts. The only time I had to re-touch them was after having new tires mounted and even then it was only minimal.

I could go the dip route and do the outside only or the whole wheel, but that isn't an option for me. I need a second set of wheels. One for spring, summer and fall and the factory set for winter.

Quick update. I use the 93 octane tune and all was perfect except for some occasional harsh shifts; usually 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. After waiting a couple of weeks to see if the issue would disappear (per Livernois' recommendation), I contacted Livernois support and the very next day got a revised 93 octane tune with softer shift changes. I've been using this revised 03 octane tune for two weeks and all is well. Shifts are exactly as I wanted them. Big THANKS to Livernois for their prompt attention to my shifts concern. I'm really happy that I chose them for my tune. Top notch company and top notch staff!

I did! ;) I also had the front side windows tinted to match the rear side windows. I'm very pleased with the new look.

Looks Great!
I looking to get the same wheels, just don't want to pay $900 to swap wheels.
Did you buy them out right or swap?
How is the quality?
On the tune, how much did it effect your gas mileage? I happy with performance now, but more is always better :)

Pic's of my toys, 90 Fox has an 03 Cobra engine in it also so I follow you on the Cobra stuff too.

Some people prefer the more aggressive feel of the trans tune but its not for everyone, glad we could quickly help you out by lightening those up for you making it more comfortable for your needs!

I bought them outright from Detroit Wheel on eBay. It was a tire & wheel package. Quality is excellent. I like that the coating has a chrome look rather than a satin or flat finish.

Nice Fox and ‘03 Cobra!

I will also confirm Livernois is great to deal with and their tunes are fantastic on the eco boost. I just did this same process on my Fusion 2.0l. Woke it up big time and drives great. I was impressed with their customer service and attention to detail as well. Highly recommend Livernois Motorsports
