If so, how expensive are they to own? I was looking up prices for a different car over the weekend, and stumbled across a 991.2 GT3 RS that I wouldn't mind buying. Looking at the mileage on it, the previous owner bailed on it before the first oil change was due.

What are the maintenance costs and schedules like?

Very reasonable on both, imho.

My father has a 2002 911TT that looks, and runs like brand new. He's had a few issues over the years, but nothing drastic. Aside from that, it's just been tires, and oil changes.

Reasonable. My dad had one for a short stint and really enjoyed it.

Maintenance is high, but if you can afford it then good for it.
Finished up some repairs on 10 Panamera with a N/A V8 late last year. Think it totaled around 2 grand maybe close to 3. Luckily that car didn’t have the carbon ceramic rotors which are idiotically expensive. And finally did the spark plugs on it, at 102k. They are recommended to be changed every 30k miles.
We own a 89 930S Slantnose Turbo and it’s by far my favorite car on the planet. But maintenance costs on them is atrocious.

Service costs are, obviously, much higher than nornal but those cars are extremely tough. I sure do hope you plan to track it, such a waste not doing so in an RS

That might actually become a possibility now that they're adding (or added) a road course section to the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

What were the repairs on the Panamera? I wonder if impending maintenance costs are why the previous owner bailed or if it was just a novelty toy he quickly grew tired of.

Brakes, full service oil change, spark plugs. Possibly a coil I can’t recall.

That car is made for the track, and a lot of owners use them for that purpose. The previous owner probably found a 991.2 allotment which fixes some issues the 991.1 face. Most notable is the engine fires that plagued the 991.1. I wouldn't worry about that too much because the 991.1 got fixed by Porsche and now has a stupid good engine warranty, something like 120k miles.
