A tune, PMAS intake, Twin 67mm TB, pulley and colder plgs will get you close to double the rwhp and torque of your 96.

Absolutely do it. :D

Do it. So much better starting point to go fast. Downside is you will notice how much bigger, wider, and heavier the car is. The upside the ride is much better and less rattles.

Mostly color options to be honest. 08-09 got an upgraded and lighter balancer (if you go 07 and it has a boat anchor balancer, replace it), I think they got a revised transmission output shaft flange as well. Interior remained the same, engine remained the same.

Whats nice is most of the performance and suspension options for GT500s are 07-12. Handling upgrades, pulley, intake, tune, TB and a heat exchanger really wake up the car.

07-08 were both known for alt issues
07-09 had clutch issues pre TSB. They didnt like stop and go traffic which caused the nodular iron flywheel to get hot and wharp making the clutch fail early. But mine held up to 27k and got high 10 sec passes on it.

07 had the heavy front balancer. Had to be replaced when adding boost or swaping blowers.

08-09 had HID and Navigation options

I know there are more things but cant think of them off hand. 09 was the last year of that body so naturally it has more of the bugs worked out but there all good years and stong motor and trans.

Do it. I went from a 2011 5.0 w/cold air, tune, and LT headers. These cars are a blast to drive. The only downside to a 07-09 GT500 is you can tell how nose heavy it is.

I doubt you will be disappointed in moving to the s197 chassis. Like others said, car is heavier but compared to my 04 Cobra you can tell it's better overall platform which it better be since it's a newer car.

07-09 GT500’s are gorgeous in their own right. I, like many of you, prefer the styling.

While it wasn’t a SN95 Cobra, I went from a 2003 Cobra to now, my second 2008 GT500. First was a coupe, then traded it for a Vert.

Never once have I regretted going to the S197 platform.
