I'm not sure if I made this thread a LONG time ago or not so if I did I'm sorry, but basically my hydroboost hisses when I engage it, and I mean HISSES, my idle falls a bit too, also it'll engage the second stage of the brake if that makes sense, like it'll click into the second stage it won't ALWAYS be stiff all around.

Maybe try some of that Lucas steering fluid. Usually a hiss means a leak or low fluid. All I can think is maybe the pump is getting weak. Does it make any noise when you turn the wheels?

Air in the brakes lines could be the reason for the pedal feel. Have you tried bleeding them?

Mine has always made a little noise. Could be yours is worse if your pedal is going down further than usual from air in the lines. It's normal for the engine to idle down a little bit as you're putting a strain (ps pump) on it by using the brakes.

The hiss you are experiencing is from the booster being bad. time to replace. You will never get rid of that soft spongy feeling. sure it will stop and works but it will be very weak. Its losing vacuum. Its not whining its the hiss of air/vacuum leaking out. Replace the booster/hydroboost set up.

Where would the vacuum be coming from? Hydroboost works off of hydraulic assistance not vacuum assist like most cars.
