Cobra roller pricing

Found a 1995 Cobra roller locally that im going to check out tomorrow. Seller claims its complete except for motor, clutch, flywhee and some engine accessories.

Asking $3k. Wondering how this price compares to current values. ~125k miles on chassis. Pics show some light surface rust on undercarriage.

Vin shows a “D” in number 8 position and exterior shows corrdect cobra wheels, bumber, wing.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully bringing a cobra home this week!

Check out all the usual spots on the car for rust/rot.
Front frame rails by the strut tower, the floors, torque boxes, rear frame rails and spare tire well area.

If its minor surface rust that can be cleaned up and painted (or POR or Epoxy paint), then that should be just fine.

$1200-1500. If it were ultra-clean/low-mileage, $2000-3000.
I agree with this. 94-95 cobras can be found in the 4-5k range needing only minor work. Buying a car that isn’t complete can add up to a lot of headaches and can nickel and dime you. By the time you realize you made a bad purchase it’ll be too late cause you already have too much invested to not finish.

Pulled the carfax this morning, confirms that odometer hasnt been working as seller claimed in texts last night, last official odometer reading was at 147K. Also notes a rear end collision, which may explain the missing SVT badge on the rear trunk lid.

I'm still planning on going to look at it but unless its accident repair is super clean, engine accessories are included and undercarriage only has minimal surface rust (as seller described), i'm walking.

This appeals to me because if the body is straight and mainly rust free, I have a complete longblock from a 1988 Mustang GT that I could swap on a 94/95 Cobra timing cover/accessories and get it on the road for the time being. Would be nice to have a Cobra to drive while my 93GT is being resprayed this summer. I've also always wanted a 95 Cobra as its the last of the 5.0 cars... Seemed like a cheap entry into one if everything adds up.

sadly the price is high, there have been nice 5.0 cobra drivers in my area for not much more (4 to 5k) a bunch of 96 to 98's with bad engines (knocking but complete) for around 2k and my buddy wanting to get me to buy his coworkers 58k mile 95 for 7,000 to replace my 94.

eh, I would skip it. higher miles, accident history, and none of the go fast bits unique to the 5.0 cobra (and there werent really that many to begin with vs. the GT). Like others have said, fairly decent 5.0 cobra drivers can be readily had for $4-5k.

No matter how you reason it out, it just doesnt seem like a good buy. If you specifically want a 5.0 Cobra, you will get a better car for less money buying a complete driver. If you just want an sn95 roller to build up, there are plenty of other 94-95 roller options out there sans the "cobra title tax." And honestly, they will look & sound exactly the same once put together with cobra bumpers.
