I just read that the new GT500 WILL NOT be at the Chicago Auto Show in February on the other Mustang forum.

I was unable to find the above link on the Chicago Auto Show website. I got it from the Mustang6G.com website.

The 2019 GT500 does not show up in any of the Debut Vehicles I could find listed on the Chicago Auto Show website.
If anyone can find the link that directs you to the link I posted, please post it here.

I think mustang6g.com took down the link to the show, but left the thread open for discussion.

bummer.. hopefully the bean counters aren't trying to penny pinch it to death now.
I can see them starting to unload stuff. no DCT, no carbon DS, no carbon wheels, no billet OPG.
finally, nail in the coffin, downgrade the HP from 700s to low 600s haha j/K.

is there a chance it comes BEFORE that time?!

Statement from the Chicago Auto Show.

Unfortunately, the listing of the GT500 was an error on the part of the Chicago Auto Show. We apologize for posting this. Ford has informed us that the GT500 will not be at the Chicago Auto Show.

I can’t see why the gt500 wouldn’t be released late this year. If it’s a 2019, it’ll be in customer hands by November/December. It would be very weird to tease a car almost 2 years in advance. That would be like teasing the 03 cobra in dec of 00 or January of 2001, or teasing the gt500 in early 2004, or teasing the trinity in early 2011 or teasing the gt350 in early 2013, or teasing the Ford Gt in early 2014.

Did those cars get teased late in those years, like November? Yes. But not 2 years early. Too much changes in a year let alone 2. The tease for the 03 cobra in 2000 would have been an na 350hp ugly front end thing made out of clay molding.

1-1.5 year tease is the most I ever really see, except for oddballs like the rx line, or the Supra... which they basically aren’t teasing, they just are trying to maintain some fanfare between 10 year shifts...

It would be 1.5 years, probably be able to order late this year and start showing mid Next... possibly fall.

I'm with Tob 100% with a performance data recorder being a must have for a car with this type of capabilities, kind of surprised more of us haven't agreed with him. I would think CF driveshaft would be standard and CF wheels at least optional too.

Because they become dated quickly as the camera technology improves and overpriced for what you get.

I have little kids and run dark tint, so I'd prefer a back up cam, especially when hard parking my GT500 :)

The tint in my car is extremely dark, and the convertible window doesn't make seeing any easier. I'm not saying that a back up camera isn't a nice add on. It should not be mandatory though.

I don't agree.
If you already have a display screen for navigation, rear camera, audio, etc, integrating a front camera makes total sense. That will likely stay with the car for it's entire useful life. At that point all you do is pop in an SD card. Display definition is always climbing and will continually improve but the ability to gain useful data very quickly remains constant and will be no more useful 5 years from now than it is today. Take a good look at the details of the system.

And the car in the following link is exactly what I tracked with George from MGW was a 2017 SS 1LE. As soon as he or I pulled into the garage and parked you could review your lines as well as all the relevant data. Invaluable in my opinion.

Look, just take this for what it's worth: auto shows are of declining importance. Was GT350 unveiled at an auto show?

I looked at the link and saw 720P video. That’s unacceptable in 2018. If Ford does offer one it has to be 1080P 60FPS with good low light capabilities. 4K of course would be preferable.

My Waylens does the same thing and off course is easy to upgrade when the tech improves.

I mentioned res and pointed out that it is always improving. If Ford offers something similar I could see them improving over and above what GM did. None of which negates or lessens it's utility.

For those of you who missed the never to be seen again Chicago Auto Show webpage on the 2019 GT500. It does contain some information about the 2019 GT500 that I had not seen in print before now.

+1

The video quality is pretty bad, I'm surprised it's even 720p. My really old cell phone shot better footage, it's outrageous GM charges as much as they do, it's absurd.

Are we too stupid or lazy to look behind us before backing up? Do we need a regulation to enforce cameras on our cars?

The way vehicles are designed these days, some of them are simply impossible to get adequate rearward visibility without a camera.

Ford didn’t make very many base R models. Somewhere around 125 total so far and may end up with 13x.
I’m sure they will be happy to get rid of that option.

I bet if they had replaced the Electronic Pack equipment with a partial cage, they would have sold more of them in that configuration than with the E Pack.

BTW, I also want a periscope or better yet an armed drone, trunk launched. So I can see over the 4 wheel drive jacked up pickup that always seems to park next to me in parking lot. The armed part is just icing on the cake.:D

I want legislation that bans full-size trucks and SUVs from driving in the left lane unless actively and briskly passing a slower vehicle. I can't stand getting stuck behind those rolling road barns. When following behind one in a car, it's like having a building blocking your view.

Well, that confirms the LED headlights that I saw on the camouflaged vehicle. That will be nice, if they make it to production.

I certainly don't mind if Ford offers a Performance Data Recorder as an option. I just don't want to be saddled with the cost of it being a standard feature.
