All, it appears the Federal taxes on my retirement were reduced nearly 20%. Log onto MyPay and check your old and new withholdings. Thank you Mr. President!
I dont get taxed on mine but I so glad to see these tax cuts bringing smiles to those where it is appreciated!

How are you not taxed on your retirement check? I thought that you would receive your retirement check (taxed) and get your VA disability check (non-taxed)?

90% disability from army. I was medically retired with 31 years 9 months.

My SF doc tslked me into it and I am sooo glad I listened to him.

So you’re only receiving one check (disability)? The rules/laws on this are so damn complicated, that I question whether I’m looking at my elbow or asshole sometimes.

Nope, 2 checks. VA and Military retirement. The rules are so you do not lose money. Had I only got 50% fromnthe Army only 50% would have been tax exempt but unlike guys with just a few years in they woild have got a lot less, which is sad.

100% through VA, though my added totals would have been closer to 300.

Good news, I'll have to check Monday.

The way the VA works with disability of less than 50% is absolute garbage. I really need to get a reevaluation done.

Nice. If anyone derserves it, it’s you. Damn near 32 years as a Green Beret...unfortunately your body reflects that time spent serving.

I was comfused as hell until I went through the MEB process. Heck my finance lady thought I could lose money and almost scared me out of it.

I would trade it all to walk without each step hurting. But if I must hurt, then Inam glad the process worked out the way it did.

I by no means am as jacked up as you. But I feel like the evil MEB is always around the corner. I have a desk job, so hopefully that keeps it at bay for the next 7 years.

Man, if you get over 20 I would send everyone to an meb. If you only get 30% you het full retirement and 30% tax free.

On top of that, your VA eval is done and expedited.

If you get 100% from the VA you get expedited social security if you want to start drawing.

Every sneeze from this day forward, have logged by your clinic. My dad was aircraft maintenance and did lots of carrier time. He did not go the medics and when he retired did not want an exit physical. He rues that decision all the time because of no hearing and back and joint problems.

Doesn't work like that. I'm getting 30%, which equates to roughly $500 a month.
The VA takes $500 from my retirement and gives me back $500 tax free. In essence I get a coupe of extra dollars. I'd bet it's not even $50.

It was in 2012, I'm regular retired and that is how it works for regular VA disability.

I didn't realize there was a different set of standards for medically retired folks. Good to know.

Yep, that's it. I'm hoping to hit that 50% mark just 20 more to go.
Tinnitus is another 10%. Not to be slick but if you ever shot without hearing protection you will have this and they have no way to say you do not.

I understand the regular method is shitty and there is a languishing bill that would change that.

If I were King for a day, the guys doing 20 years and over would get a mandatory MEB when they decide to retire because all the advantages of that system.

Nothing dishonorable about being medically retired. As a matter of fact there are many guys who should and think it is manly to get not go for medical care. I was that way for about 20 years and then busted my pubis simphus or the line in the front of your pelvis on a jump.

That resulted in back problems starting. Medics were all over me to start seeing docs. A couple other incidents in my career amplified spinal issues. Uhhhggg
