Well, had a trinity w/2.4 pulley and supporting mods last summer. Was pretty ‘Meh’. Removed blower, and got rid of it. Have some $ to play with. Here are my options:
Gen2r VMP new, under $3000
Whip gen 2 2.9 under $3000
KB 2.8 for $3500
Whip gen 3 2.9 for a great deal

Not so sure on vmp gen 3, with pricing, delays, and other unknowns.

Any suggestions for me?

Gen2r = Same thing you just took off (yes not the same but close enough)

VMP Gen 3 wont be for a while and who knows the pricing anyways... id go for the Whipple 2.9 if you have to go any direction.. the 2.8L KB are junk and leak and need rebuilds quite often.

I was told by VMP that we will see the Gen 3 in March. Id not make a blower decision till reviews and actual power figures are out personally.

Given that a pullied Trinity was meh for you, Whipple 4.0L should be something to look at if you need a blower RIGHT NOW.

Whipple 2.9 on 2007 - 2012 w supporting mods 700rwhp+ all day long. They look tough underhood and very reliable/durable units. My $.02

4.0 whipple or 3.6 kb would be worth the switch. 2.8kb, 2.3 tvs, 2.9
Whipple will make about the same hp.

I called VMP and was told by customer service that VMP is planning an adapter so stock GT500 patten throttle bodies will work. No pricing information was given, though it was implied that the Gen 3 pattern TBs will give the greatest performance potential.

I think whipple 170 and SCJ mono owners will have plenty of airflow that you will just need an adapter. Twin 67 and 65mm Cobra Jet tb guys may be restricted, but only from max performance. I suspect those owners would see more benefit from purchasing the Street/Strip mono VMP has planned.

If you want the max performance the Gen 3 will be capable of, their Race mono will be the way to go.

Here I am thinking my Trinity 2.4/KB mono combo are absolutely all I can handle ! Good stuff BlowerMan :)->) ! I'm most curious on the advice given, what direction you eventually take and your results.

Been running a KB 2.8LC for 3 years with zero issues. Customer service has been fantastic.
X3. The 2.8 made mid-800's for me and KB was great! A used 2.8 should be way less than $3,500! I upgraded to a 3.6 and sold mine for $2,500. You can't overfill a KB or you'll have problems. If you can't tell when it's full, you're a boob.

Nice...how much of a difference did you see going from the 2.8 to 3.6?

My 2.8 was 711 @ 18lbs on 93 with the 3.6 it was 675 and 725 for 93/e85 on the 18lb pulley. I wasn't seeing 18lbs until 6500 so I dropped to the 20lb pulley to help build the boost a little sooner. That 3.6 pulls so hard up top

From a business standpoint I'm thinking they will continue to sell the Gen 2R, especially if the price point is right compared to the Gen 3. If the Gen 3 flies off the shelves then eventually the 2R will go bye bye....my .2 cents worth...
