I found a spot near my home for $162/per month with a month to month deal.

My 95R has been in and out of various places in it's history. The last place has been in my driveway.

I think what he was saying is he charges other people $75 for 1 and $100 for 2.

I also store both R's in the shop at home. = $0/month

Yes, I should have been more clear.

My house came with an old shop out back, 4000 square feet.

I can fit 14 cars in there at $75 month for one car, a few people put two cars away and i charge them $100 for the pair.

My cars, I keep at my work garage with my front end loaders and dump truck where it’s heated and toasty warm :)

I used to rent two 10x20 storage units for cars at $70/each. I have since bought land and built a garage. Now the only cost is property tax and heating/cooling.

A downside to my old storage units were they were in a dusty environment. Even with 2 car covers over the cars, they still were dusty. I also didn’t drive them much since they were 1.5 miles from my house and “inconvenient.” They now live in a dust free, climate controlled environment and can be driving easily at any time. Also, although I spent a crap ton of $ to have my dream garage, it’s nice not seeing $140/month pissing away to someone else to store my cars.

Loaded question, I pay nothing per se a month, but taxes, utilities, initial construction costs, maintenance, etc, guess it depends on how long you amortize.

I store cars at my shop, not heated, $75 month for one vehicle or two vehicles for $100.
Does it fill up ? You could do $75 for 1, 125 for two, and buy a 4 post lift so you still only use one footprint, and someone else buys your lift. I wish I had someone around here that was that cheap.

I’m not a fan of storage facilities. Seems like things always tend to “happen” at those places. I keep all mine where they belong...with me. Plus I like being able to look at them everyday.

Fills up every year, almost all are long term customers and friends that’s why I keep it so cheap.

Unfortunately it’s only a 10 foot ceiling, no height for lifts without raising the roof and that would be expensive.

I do however have a four post lift at my other shop for my own cars.

Hey Goose,
It's just not that inexpensive in the northern suburbs of north Atlanta. I've looked. I am near the global headquarters of UPS, and the American Hd'q's of the Mercedes-Benz company.

I did the numbers around here which will require at least $300,000+ for a small property and who knows what to get a permit? I figure $400,000 in cash up front to buy one.

I paid up-front $162/month for a corner place for my 1995 Cobra R #113 (born 3-1-1995). The car looked happy to me: :D

Make sure you pay your storage bill. That would be a heck of a score for someone if they had to auction off your locker.

Thanks, but I have month-to-month plan with an authorized credit card. I paid three months ahead.

One reason that I got this place is the close location to my house (>2 miles). This is great since I can drop by at anytime to check on the car. I have the gate code.

Another thing: The employees are trained to get you to buy additional insurance:
They then asked how if I knew my car was covered in this facility? I said yes. Then, "Are you sure?" [I've read my collector car policy twice]. Yes, I'm sure.

It must be a bunch of idiots that usually rent a space?

My policy is with Heacock Classic:

I did contact them and add the new storage location. I sent pictures of the location:

Another option for you... buy a rental property nearby that either already has a stand-alone garage on the property or space to build one. Then when you rent the house, you have a lease that states the stand-alone garage is not for their use.

I actually considered this option for awhile. I have rent houses and was leaning this way before I finally convinced a neighbor to sell me some land.

You could have a good size garage and have someone pay you rent as well.

I keep my 95 R in the home garage
no cost.

I do have 2 car trailers that I keep my track cars in and keep those on a storage lot. Costs me about $115 a month for 2 car trailers.

I actually did this once with my first house (my first dwelling was a cabin). It had a two car attached garage, and I gave them a private key to the inside door to the garage door. It worked for about 5 years until they moved.

I am done with rentals. I bought a house near me after the crash of 2009. It was a great deal. My wife ended up signing up a friend of a friend of her's. The deadbeat renter always calls my wife with an excuse on the rent. The actual annual rent barely covers my expenses (the house is worth more than I paid).

Yes! I bought 5 houses back when the housing market crashed. I stole them all. I’ve had a few issues along the way, but for the most part I’ve been lucky with my tenants. I also make sure they all know I practice and teach martial arts. I think that helps! :D

Two of my houses came up for rent this past year so I sold them. When the other 3 come vacant, I’ll sell those too. Being able to buy them at the bottom of the market has turned out to be a nice investment.

had to put the R in a storage unit for a few months while the house was under construction. i wasn't happy about it but i didn't want anyone to hit it with anything or leave it outside. only one place near me had a 10x20 unit available and it was the most expensive at $240 a month. i wouldn't do it long term. it's to expensive and its annoying to have to drive somewhere to get the car every time you wanna use it.
