not at my post...
*gasp*

I’m not sure what happens now. Do we stone him? Or maybe cover his home in sheeps blood?

I still miss my '05 MGT. Torch red with crimson interior. Mmm...

05/06 GT is godlike. I’ve never seen another car that makes my heart skip a beat.

Better play it safe and do both. =D

I like both cars for sure but I much prefer the 05/06 ones more. Love the lock of the GTX1's too.

Both cars are beautiful we can agree on that. The 05-06 FGT looks raw & muscular and the new FGT looks exotic and sleek. But I'd rather hear @DBK 's opinion on this matter!

They are both great looking cars, and I love them both, but I think the new car is much more dynamic aesthetically. The 05/06 is a great looking homage to the original with one of the few truly timeless automotive shapes. There are some odds and ends that are finally starting to look dated, but honestly, with a new set of headlights and a wheel/tire setup that is more current, I really think they could sell the 05/06 as a brand new car today. It just doesn't really age. Then look at how shit a 12 year old Ferrari looks these days.

The 17 car however is from another planet. Like, my brain still melts looking at them every day that this thing is real and they managed such an innovative way to make a new car that still had so much GT40 DNA. It's also a much more imposing car because it's longer, lower, wider.

This thing is just ****ing bananas to me.

But they both work.

The new one actually goes against what I usually like in a car but something about it.. I respect it far more than any other car out there, I've seen all the new mclarens, lambos, ferrari etc (save for some of the 1 of 4 specials) in person but NONE came close to being as flat out impressive as the NGT, none of them can attract the same attention

Bugh, who invited this DBK-hole to the thread?

It’s kinda wild to compare the new GT to the 05/06.... in that it turns last decades supercar into a muscle car by comparison.

If I had the money, I would not be able to settle for one or the other. I would have to have both... and hopefully an original GT40 too. They are the same yet two distinctly different vehicles accomplishing different tasks.

Didn’t know the 05 S197 had a DOHC 24V engine.
Eh, faux pas lingo as I guess it should be SOHC 24v despite the fact it has two cams.

As for the rest of the video and comments, I never understood the the 3v hate. The 05-09 cars pretty much saved the Mustang and enabled it to become what it is today. Those things were literal rockstars when they hit the streets. I got chased by people and cameras constantly taking delivery of first shipement 05 cars back in late ‘04 etc.

They’re still great platforms and good looking cars when done right. IMO they’ve aged well to become double retro at this point and are the most ‘Mustang’ looking of all s197/s550 cars. Maybe I’m biased but I loved mine and took out my share of coyote cars with some boost. Toss some rods in one and you have a decent little setup that packages like an LS.

As for FGT talk, the New and old are on different planets from different universes. One is Americana, the other is probably one of the best styled and valued modern HyperCars on the market. They probably shouldn’t be compared aside from an evolutionary standpoint.

The 05-06 FGT was a brute, and it woke up in a hurry. Stock, I didn’t find our shop car very appealing. However it woke right up with a muffler delete, pulley/snout, TB and tune. Still I hated the forward blind spots and shoddy - dangerous - electronics/security that would trap you inside the car. It scared me quite a bit not knowing if I could get out in the event I needed to.

It was a concept car brought to production and it felt like it. Still, extremely cool. The late FGT is like being able to buy an actual LeMans racer for the street. The tech and quality is just mind blowing. Yes, the V8 is gone, but sound aside I don’t think that’s what the FGT was meant to represent. I won’t tell you noise isn’t important, but in that car it’s not priority.

The new GT isn't a hypercar, though. Ford aimed "low" toward just being a supercar. It has the bones to be a hypercar, though. Just not the power. And the jury is still in deliberation as far as its actual performance is concerned. They "only" benchmarked cars like the Ferrari 458, so don't expect to be wowed too much compared to up-to-the-minute standards; 488, 675LT, etc.

The 05 Ford GT remains my ultimate dream car. The styling is timeless. Sure its not the fastest thing anymore but its still so unique.

Worst part is I have a friend of a friend with 5 of them. Cmon powerball

I thought they used the 675LT as a benchmark, along with the 458 speciale.

The 488 has a little more power but the FGT is a little lighter it looks like and the FGT has wider cups vs regular pilot sports. I bet it does just fine against it.

Then again if you've ever heard a modern v8 mclaren at WOT they do NOT sound good. Super bland sound
