Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

Love the transmission in the 350, if I could have a manual that was as good in the GT500, I may consider it, but I know there won’t be , so it’s auto/dct for me.

Sorry got to have three pedals.

Pick your poison.
For strictly street I hear ya, but either track the new autos/DCTs are just too damn good.
Even my Hellcat A8 on road course was impressive. After getting out of a DCT Ferrari then into a 350R, although a sweet shifter, the 350R would be faster with DCT.

I’m full aware that an auto is faster. Still give me the manual on street or road course, and strip if I drag raced.

I agree. I've driven enough Sgt's, they may as well just be normal full auto slush boxes at that point.

Wait I'm getting the Vibe that there is only going to be a AUTO. Please say that isn't so.

While I have zero visibility behind the curtain... I have to say, if there is only going to be one offering, I would be willing to gamble that there would be just a stick. While the old saying is "past performance doesn't guaranty future results", I think its extremely unlikely that Ford would put a Mustang variant out that is only an auto.

Just out of curiosity, when you guys refer to "auto," are you including a DCT in that terminology? Big difference between something like the 10-spd Auto and a 7-speed DCT...

There both autos, so I would assume among the comments, the answer is yes to both. I prefer the DCT over a conventional torque converter system, but if they put a conventional system in that has shift times of 160ms or better and can hold the power without overheating... I'll take it too.

Personally, I would never, ever, ever buy a sports car with a conventional hydraulic automatic transmission. The comparisons GM makes between the hydramatic and PDK are laughable. I'm sure it's fine for beep-beep-beep WOT and all that, but they still don't compare otherwise.

PDK in the GT3 RS is the best transmission in the world.

I don't know, man... the trans in my Hellcat is a conventional hydraulic and it takes a pounding. Some folks are running low 9's on a completely stock trans and last season I was hot lapping for 2 hours on the road course with zero temp issues. I can't get 20 minutes out of my Mustangs manual transmission.

Yea... I got it before I heard anything about the trans and diff cooler issue. What pisses me off is, I bought the car to track it 6 to 8 times a year. I actually passed on an R and a Track Pack because I wanted NAV, AC, heated and cooled seats, etc.

Its its great on the street, but it can't handle track temps. It really pisses me off and is actually the only reason I want a GT500 instead of slamming a blower on this one.

Marc , that sucks, I thought there was recourse from that. I’d trade it in ASAP for a 17. A dealer a bit away from me here has an awesome grabber with black stripes that’s been sitting a while, I’d hit them up for a trade in.
