Yeh, when the wife and my son all go, its an easy 60 or 70 dollar event. Gotta get the bucket popcorn and 5 gallon drink.

I remember in 1977 i was 7 years old, my mom gave my 5 dollars to go to see star wars IV. The ticket was 75 cents. A large popcorn was 75 cents and a drink was 40 cents. I also got a hot dog it was 75 cents. I felt like a baller. Today, all that would be 25 or 30 bucks.

I am shocked at the cost of a movie experience but as long as we keep paying and going it will never change.

Yep, ticket, popcorn, drink, hotdog would easily be 25-30 bucks per a person nowadays. We only go if it’s a must see movie, so just a few times a year.

What do you think do with coat and pants pockets and a woman's purse?

We go to the movies on average about once a month. We prefer to go on Tues when tickets are $5. Plus we buy the annual popcorn bucket that gives you $5 refills for a year.

I'll probably wait to watch the new SW with my parents over Christmas. Mom really likes the SW movies.

I saw it last night at 8pm. I won't give any spoilers away and i'll wait till it's been out for awhile and then comment more in depth.

I thought it was good. Maybe my expectations were too high but there were a lot of cool scenes and some good jokes. To me, it was better than TFA. IT still doesn't hold a candle to the originals (not that i think you can really compare them).

I'm going again on Wednesday so maybe my opinion will change and i will like it more.

I don’t do movies at the theater.
So, meh.
+1 I stopped going to the movies about the same time smart phones and texting became popular.

The whole reserved seating and your ticket price depends on your seat location is crap. The closer to the middle and center, the more expensive.
That's complete horse shit. Reason #2743 for not ever going to a theater again.

This. I’ll take a flame suit for this but also could give two ****s about Star Wars. Besides the original 3 and the Phantom menace never seen another one.

I might have mentioned this before, but the way it usually works is week 1 the studio gets 100% of the ticket sales, theaters get 0.
Week two, studio gets 90%, theaters get 10%, and so on and so on.

By the time the theater is getting 100% of the ticket sales, there's only three or four people in the movie theater because everyone's seen it by then.

This is why they charge the prices they do for concessions and now pick your seat. They truely don't make any money on the ticket sales.

That being said, I have a 10 screen movie theater for a tenant, and we - myself and a few family members - get an annual pass for free admission.

I like to go Monday - Wednesday afternoon or night when there's no kids in the theater.

Yes sir. Its all we have. On your ticket it will say your row and your seat number. Its like buying concert tickets. Pick your row and seat.

Same thing here in the Boston area, except the prices don't vary by seating location.
You sure about that?

The last couple movies I've seen in theater are deadpool and John Wick(#1).

I got to be honest, just couldn't get into TFA. Even when watching it at home I ended up changing the channel. Maybe I'll have to force myself to watch it through, but just not hyped for these new ones.

I am looking forward to seeing this, but, I pretty much refuse to go to theatres these days. Way too many kids in all types of movies and other rude people that won't put the phones down, stop talking, etc.

I'd rather crack open a case of beer, make a nice meal for my wife and I and relax on our 4K TV with Soundbar setup.

Will wait until blu-ray is released for this movie.

Hope you all enjoyed it!

I was a fan of TFA and plan on seeing the new one Sunday. I liked Rogue One. But I am not sure it is better then TFA.

Does everyone really hate the new ones that much to walk out? Are they really that bad or are you stuck on the old ones and Lucas so much you cant allow yourself to like these?

I am annoyed the new SW movies have not come out on 4K..

TFA was like if a chat-bot with ADHD was fed the script to Episode 4 and regurgitated it back up. Sorry, I just felt like it was an incoherent mess with no memorable aspects. R1 was immeasurably better in my opinion- the plot made sense, the setting stayed long enough to form a familiarity, and the characters were enjoyable.

For the record, I'm not a big movie fan, nor sci-fi. But, if I lose interest just because the scenes are jumpy or pointless it really says something.

JJ Abrams needs to pull his head out of the collective anuses of the entire SJW-club.

BOOM! I feel the same way being the diehard Star Wars dork I am. I wanted to like TFA, but save for a few memorable scenes, just didn’t tickle my balls. I did however like Rogue One a lot!
