That's pretty much mandatory, unless they plan on making a GT500 and a GT500KR.

Welcome back!

I haven't heard any rumblings of an "R" or "KR" model; but with the success of the GT350R, it wouldn't surprise me.

What was told is that one version will run for 19 and 20 and there will be another with more HP and sophistication coming for ‘21. Not sure what sophistication means but Its what was told. It may just be an updated version of the prior, anyone’s guess at this point but it was told it would be a while before that one is announced (maybe 2020 MY)

The next up will have HP in the 760+ area but not demon power, more like ZR1 area..maybe more. 4000 lbs...a little less. Some form of auto, maybe DCT. The guy relaying the tid bits is very excited for it, more than I thought he would be after he got an update from his source. it’s gonna haul ass in corners and straights, brutally fast. All while drinking your favorite beverage.

After reading a lot of these speculation posts I’m surprised nobody seems to be paying attention to the 2019 ZR1. Or have I just not read enough? Kind of a big deal: 755 hp, 715 torque. And “handling friendly” perhaps?

I think there is a thread on it somewhere in this forum. Killer car for sure. Would love to own one, but waaaaaayyyyyyy out of my price range. lol

Definitely out of my price range as well. I’m pretty happy with my ‘13 Shelby. Right now trying to finagle a new Ducati Panigale V4s without selling my current Ducati Panigale.

They’ll probably be a little closer to “affordable” when they hit the used market though...

Patience is a virtue. Remember how Ford kept dropping those 10 second teaser videos before the GT350 was finally announced? It became very annoying, but the final product was worth the wait. They played the new GT close to the vest, then shocked the world with it. I'm sure the next GT500 will have jaws dropping.
I don't think it was worth the wait. For Ford it may have been since they've pretty much sold all of them, but not so much for consumers. Not enough were produced to make them truly attainable for most, the prices asked by dealers for the most part took away any real value the cars offered. Chevy did better overall IMO this round with the camaro when it comes to the performance and value, and I would buy one if it didn't look and sound like $h!t. I feel very disappointed with Ford this generation of mustang.

There ware plenty produced. The value of the GT350 was shown as there was plenty of people that wanted them and plenty that put down their hard earned cash to purchase. Yes even above msrp. The more people want the more value it has.
And as you just said people in mass don’t want the zl1. As seen by $10k off list prices. Chevy clearly loses despite coming out second.

The 350 isn't meant for the high horsepower crowd. I can see why he would think it was disappointing. If you haven't driven a 350 and especially a 350R you will never understand how good it actually is. It's a great car and in many people's eye the best mustang ever made. Best doesn't mean most horsepower or the fastest. This next GT500 will be the fastest but I have a feeling it still won't be as fun to drive as the 350R is. Lots of drivers prefer NA over boosted applications. Personally I like both and am looking forward to what around the corner.
I was pretty upset with ford because I was expecting the gt500 a couple years ago but it's better late than never

Probably because this is a FORD performance-focused site? Mustangs in particular. There has been a thread or two about it. It starts at $130K, so that prices it out of reach for most here, and there's no point in discussing it all that much. People will talk about more in two or three years when you can pick one up on the used market for $60K - $70K.

I agree with this. Not because I bought one, but because of what the purchase prices have shown. People are buying ZL1(1LE)s because they can get them below MSRP. If Chevy dealers tried to charge above MSRP, they'd rot on dealer lots. The GT350 and GT350R are basically the holy grails of Mustang-dome. And based on sale prices, the value is clearly there.

Yep! It's nice to be able to drive a car where the throttle pedal is a tool at your disposal instead of a detonator switch. I used to think my GT500 had a pretty linear power delivery (and it does), but it's nowhere close to as precise as the GT350R. Just being able to dance on the throttle is a joy everybody needs to experience. It's like a scalpel. Anyway... I thoroughly enjoy my GT500, as well. Sometimes it's nice to feel that seemingly endless, bone-crushing torque as I blast down the highway and watch the speedometer effortlessly roll to the end of the dial. I love them both! If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to make a choice, they might have to pull the trigger. (Well, if my GT500 still had the stock suspension setup, I'd choose the R, but with how well it handles now, it would be too hard of a choice to make.)

It’s also the weight on the nose which you can’t hide. The magnetic shocks are outstanding and body roll is virtually non existent. The sound is also the very best tune I’ve heard out of any car period *JMO.
With a lot of the same components in the next GT500, I have a feeling it’s going to be a great car, I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time.
