I'm looking to buy 9 thread heads.

My question is can you run a DB head and a DC head together or is there major differences that won't allow this combo to work?

Thanks.

I'm running a new DC head on the drivers side and a rebuilt DB head on the pass side. I'm also running a HCM on the DC head just for the hell of it.

Great. I bought a DB and a DC just yesterday. Took some research but got it figured out. This just confirms it even further. Thanks.

The only thing you have to pay attention to are that the DB & DC castings are side-specific. Unlike all the earlier ones that can be swapped as long as you move the oil plugs around, the 9-thread versions would need to be drilled and tapped - not something I've ever heard of anyone bothering with.

For all there is to know about the heads, this will help:

That drawing you show says Terminator at the top, is that something someone else added? or did the Ford drawing say Terminator?

That's just one page from the Terminator engine assembly manual used at the Romeo plant. There are many other pages from it on my site and in my Aluminator build thread (both in sig below).

I may be missing something, but are you saying the heads can go on either side as long as you move the oil plugs?

Just as stated: the heads prior to the DB & DC castings can be used on either side since they are all drilled and tapped for oil passages (plugged depending on which side the head sits). This is not the case for the latter two versions since the passages are not drilled. All the info is in the link from my site.

I had no idea, that's good to know.
