I own a 2013 Fastlane GT with 20x10 Truforged chicane rims. Bought the car with Invo 295 35zr20 new from the dealer. Ran 315 30zr20 for 2 years no issues. Time for new tires. Decided to run proxies r888 285 35zr20's which I thought were the right size for the rim. Got a great deal from a local mavis tire shop. They just called me and told me they can't get them on the car. What the hell is that? Anybody have some feedback. And have any feedback for right tire for rims on 600 + hp car, 9lbs boost

285/35/20 should fit 20x10. Maybe there is something abnormal about the set of tires or rims - or maybe they're clueless like you suggested. Or maybe that 600+ HP and 9lbs of boost has something to do with your rim size.

If they don't have the proper equipment, mounting huge tires with very low profile on rims this big is a huge pain in the ass. When rims get over 18" and profiles under 40, the quality of the equipment used becomes a real factor in whether you can get the tire on or not. It's a question I ask every time and, I've only got BBP 19s.

To answer both questions. I am going back to the right size, back to the same guy who mtd the 315's on the 10" wide and never had any issues. He is mounting the 285's hopefully this week. He told me mavis is not qualified and that he had no issues putting the 285 proxies on. Car is lowered but mavis couldn't even get as far as putting the tire on the rim so no issues there. These heights and widths are similar to what I bought the car with Invos 295 35zr20. I should be fine with the right guy now. Sucks that there really is no good alternative wider tire for the 20x10 rim the r888r is the best choice, 1" less in width then the 315's

I've had a couple of issues with shops installing a 295/35/19 on a 10.5" wheel. Guys said they spent over an hour mounting it. A 285 on a 10" wheel is definitely doable, though.

I run 285-30's on 10" wheels and Discount Tire has no problem mounting them.

Also I have no relation to these jokers at Mavis tire.

R888s and other tires designed for turning have very stiff sidewalls, they can be a pain in the ass to mount, especially with shorter sidewalls.
I'm honestly not surprised that a chain shop tech that probably does mostly cheap crappy all-season tires would have a hard time.

Discount Tire is my go too for work on expensive wheels and/or low profile tires. They tend to be professional and experienced with dealing with them.
