2007 Ford Mustang GT500 water leak help.

Hiya.

I got this issue with my 07 GT500 grey alloy it's leaking water from the right passenger side underneath the cabin ...
There have been multipe storms with rain.
The whole carpet got soaked with water and it smells. From what i can see its a leakage underneath the cabin but i don't exactly what it is like is Can anyone help me? ...

Has the windshield been replaced?

I recall reading about a cowl drain that gets plugged and needs to. E cleared. I think it's a fairly common problem and easy to fix. Do a google search and I think you will find posts.

Common S197 issue with a drain in the cowl area. Checkout YouTube videos that will show you how to clear it out.

With the engine cool you can reach down in the back along the firewall on each side and where it shelves back a little you should find two rubber valves - one each side - that normally pinch close slightly but will allow water to pass out of the cowl area. Those get stopped up by debris and pollen that settles in the cowl and then it spills over into the interior. Just work those while flushing a little water through the cowl and they should flush out. But if no water comes out after massaging them, they may be clogged up really good and need to be cleared from the cowl area.

If it smells like anti-freeze, it may be the heater core. Just throwing out another possibility.

100% the cowl drain. Had this happen to me. Easy to fix though.

Ok haven't done the fix but i did clean all the carpet. Used some detergent. The carpet did smell awful but now it doesn't. Now it smells like clean detergent. I rinsed it and used a towel to absorb as much water. Then i used a cleaning foam for the carpet. Tomorrow i am going to see how the day is. If it's sunny i will go through it one more time. I am gonna check the issue with leak. hopefully it's that.
