Thanks for the great replies, here is an update. The dealer agreed to check on it by pulling the oil pan and this they did. Then said there was metal in the pan and said it would be 900.00 to pull it apart. I told them to put it back together and I will get the car this weekend. I can't believe the motor is bad, and even more I can't believe I thought I was doing the right thing by having a dealership work on my car. I may wind up rebuilding the motor, but this time I will do all of the assembly and only have some one else do the machine work. I will be checking the car over real well when I get it back to make sure it is in fact the engine. I will up date this post when I know more.

Did you physically get eyes on the oil pan? I wouldn't trust them when they can't do something as simple as a clutch change.

I'm wondering why they are looking for an answer to knock by looking further..

I would ask for all old parts also..

I just had a friend go through this..pd 1000 bucks for bearing/slave type in trans on f250..they never touched it but gave him piece off a box with part number...

Did you buy from a member on the forums? Do you think the seller may have misrepresented the car? Or are you leaning towards dealer neglect

Either way don't get frustrated. If the car is mint, fix it and move on. They aren't easy to find especially in SB. It sucks having such an expense so soon but these are great cars and worth the hassle

Did they actually pull the oil pan? That's a pretty big job if you have the stock k-member...

I agree when my oil pan was replaced in my crash it was a big job that the guys insurance paid quite a bit for. This Ford dealer sounds kind of odd to me; it sounds like they are trying to get money out of him.

You mentioned it only does it cold, is it possible you purchased the car like this? From the sounds of it you only drove it home and then to the dealer, I wouldn't be so fast to blame the dealer. You could have purchased the car like this. How thorough did you check the car out when purchasing it? Is the car modded, tuned, if so what mods and who tuned it?

I do agree they probably didn't pull the pan but they could have drained the oil and seen metal particles in there. For them to make an engine knock in 7 miles they would have to severely beat the crap out a perfectly good engine. Curious to see what your brand new clutch looks like when you pull it back out. Sorry for your bad luck and hope you get it back on the road soon.

Thanks guys, I've put a deposit on a 4,325 mile long block from the partsfarm in Lyons ga and I am picking it up tomorrow, so hopefully in a few weeks I will have the motor pulled and swap it out, then I can tear it down and find out exactly what's wrong. If I can figure out how to load it, I will upload a short video of the car running presently.

Well I couldn't load the video, but I was able to load a picture of the cut open filter, according to the dealership.

Since I self tune I made a valet tune as well. I took my car to the front end shop for a vibration, I limited the rpm to 3500, pulled massive timing and capped the mph at 90.

I bet the guys were disappointed, lol.
Which tuning device do you use to do the valet tune and limit the miles the car can reach.

My laptop.

If you have an SCT handheld your might have the options to pull a bunch of timing and maybe adjust the speed limiter.
I got my 04 terminator that I bought yesterday, and am trying to learn as much as posible and that is something I would definitely like to learn, the previous owner told me he was going to send me the SCT handheld, he said is not the new version so don't know if I'll be able to do it using the SCT.

The options that are allowed to be tweaked are controlled by the person that made the tune for the handheld. Its a crapshoot if you can make changes.

Thanks for all of the advice and ideas, I wound up buying a long block with 4,325.5 miles on it from a wrecked 03 10th anniversary car. I replaced the motor, but kept the factory motor. I haven’t torn it apart as of yet so still not sure what the problem was. I have since replaced the clutch again this time with a McLeod rst, and I like it much better.

Oh I also took the car to mo’s speed shop and had it tuned and bought the hand held and had Jeff load a valet tune on it as well which limits the rpms to 2500 so it will not go to a dealer with out that tune and it will never go to courtesy ford in Rome ga again.

Did that new motor come with the oil cooler or did you reuse yours?

Not try to be off topic . But it’s easy to switch between valet tune and normal tune ?

Also do you have to tell the shop that it have valet tune and can go certain rpm and speed , or let them find out itself ?
