A nice Terminator would be good, I believe you can get a nice low milage one for 30K or less. But be careful on a terminator, many have been used hard, shop wisely. Also check on a Boss 302, they are awesome!

11/12 GT500 or, if you like them after driving one, a C6Z. I traded a '10 GT500 for an '06Z and absolutely LOVED it.

The fact that you can get a C6Z for less than a 13' GT500 boggles my mind. The C6Z is such an outstanding car for that money.

This is such a great question because of the price point. It's probably the average member or car persons budget. Very difficult to
make a decision here as you're right in the middle

I'd cross the Terminator off the list right off the bat. Its not a buyers market for those cars anymore. All the mint unmolested low mileage ones are being put away and all the clapped out pieces of crap are being tossed around like a 2 dollar whore. People know these cars are going to be collector status now so people are holding onto them.

For $35k, I'd honestly go for a C6Z. I've even seen them as low as $28k now which is so crazy to think about.

Bad ass cars until they drop a valve.

I believe that issue to be a bit overblown, though it is still a valid concern. Many owners have addressed it with preventative maintenance to replace hollow sodium filled exhaust valves with solid stemmed ss valves and new hardened valve guides.

Bottom Line: I'd look for a car that already had the 'head fix' done by previous owner, or I'd pull the heads and have a machine shop do it for me(I'd do intake and exhaust valves), stuff a hotter cam in there while I am waiting on the machine shop. Working on a LS motor is fairly easy.

11/12 GT500, or 15 GT with performance pack and Recaro.

Loved my Mach 1 but really the Fiesta St is 5 times more fun to drive.

+1. A 2017 leather, navigation performance pack GT can be had for $29.8k with the cash back and rebates on them at the moment. Having said that, I'd go with a 11/12 GT500. Can't go wrong either way.

2015+ S550 GT PP with recaro's. Or 07-09 GT500 and put a TVS on it and let it eat. Stay away from 11-12 GT500's, too many shifting issues. Many of us have had them and got tired of the BS. The list is long in the amount of components needed to remedy the situation.

Hey guys,

I'm going to buy my midlife crisis car in the spring and I’m looking for advice/feedback. I'm close to 40 and I've had some Mustangs in the past but never been able to buy what I really want because of insurance costs when I was younger and then having kids. My first car was an 86 2.8 Capri, then I had a 2000 3.8 Mustang in college (hence my username) and recently had an 89 GT lowered with full BBK exhaust. I've had Japanese sportbikes (my gauge for fast) and I have a Softail Deluxe now so this Mustang doesn't need to be the fastest most badass Mustang in world. In college I had a chance to ride in a 2000 Cobra R and that will always be the benchmark for any Mustang. That 2000 Cobra R was just amazing because I felt like I was riding in a true street legal race car. I’d like something that can recreate that Cobra R feeling but balance with creature comforts since my wife will want A/C and leather. This will be a sunny weather only car and I plan to keep the car for a long time since I’ve waited 20+ years to get my dream Mustang but resale value would be nice (never know when life changes may force a sale). Below is my list of Mustangs I'm considering but let me know what you think and I’m definitely open to suggestions. I plan to add a full exhaust and lowering springs as my only mods (my Harley has straight pipes so loud is good in my book).

    1. GT500

    2. Higher mileage 2000 Cobra R (Damn the wife)

    3. 11-14 Glass roof GT

    4. 11/12 Boss

    5. 03/04 Terminator or Mach1

    6. Resto mod Fox
I feel like your experience with SN95s would make you appreciate the nostalgic factor of a Terminator a lot. If this isn't going to be your only car and if you are at least somewhat mechanically inclined, that's the route I'd go.

Sure the interior sucks, it's an outdated platform technology-wise, etc etc etc but they are sweet cars for the purpose of satiating midlife crises.

You can get a great Terminator for 24-26k, insurance is pretty cheap, and you'll have money left over to mod it, fix it, DRIVE IT.....

If you haven't ridden/driven a Terminator, you should at least check it out in person before making your decision.
