I just went through this with my Evo 10, it was a pain in the ass. The bank the buyer was dealing with was extremely difficult and WOULD NOT send a check without receiving a signed bill of sale first. I was very uncomfortable with the situation, but did my best to verify everything. They refused to give me the check directly and they would only "mail" it to my bank. Took nearly 14 days to get paid AFTER the car was gone. All I had was a supposed "copy" of the check to be mailed. Could have gone south easily, I wouldn't do it again. I just made sure to keep it insured until I was paid. Lesson learned though.

as stated certified check doesn't mean shite. They can be fake, and they can bounce. Either cash or wire transfer before releasing the car, end of story.
