Got a hard time believing the usual suspects (V&H, etc.) don't offer a system for a Triumph. But I'll take your word for it.

I found a dozen including zard and carpenter. No excuse for not going with ones who are proven

During my research I only found 2 other companies that made headers.

Zard and carpenter.

Zard was nearly double the price and ugly and carpenter was ugly. I wanted good looks and performance.

Zard makes a header but it's ugly and cost more.

Carpenter makes a header too but i thought the looks of the one I bought was better.

Those are the only 2 I found when I was in the market.

Sometimes you gotta suck up a little on the looks and spend a little more to get something that is proven to work.

So if I am understanding this correctly, you only want to pay a third of what the item actually cost? Sounds like you're scamming the guy. IMO you should just send the header back and do a full chargeback.

So any update OP?

Is he still all '**** you guy'?

He's basically sending me and several others pm calling us liars and bullshitters. I'm a usmc veteran and one of the other guys is an army veteran. We both have decided to challenge with the bank and his pm is giving us plenty of fuel. Some examples of his customer service is below. Unreal.

who started threatening who? There is no trust at all between you two at this point, as he thinks he'll never get the headers back, and you think you'll never get a refund. It seems its past the point of salvage. I, personally, wouldnt want to run the guy's stuff on my bike if he's threatening me, no matter how 'badass' its supposed to be.

If ONE person asks who did your header, and you tell them, that's one sale more than the guy deserves imo. Shady ass way to do business.

He won't do anything. I called and contested 2 of the 3 charges today with the bank. I figure I owe him 1/3 at this point.
This makes you the dick in the equation now. it is way past the time to dispute charges, you should have refused them up front when they didn't fit. you didn't do that, not his fault you threw good money after bad. IMHO you had no right to dispute the chages at this late date.

Late date? I've literally had the headers less than 2 weeks. I've already been refunded 2/3 of my money. He's not fighting it.

I understand that you got 2/3 of your money back but in my opinion you don't deserve it back.

I would go as far as saying you deserve what it would cost to re-coat the headers from someone like Jet-Hot.

There are 2 ways to gain performance.
Increasing the airflow and leaning out the mixture.
Do you have the A/F readings and exhaust gas temps from before and after the tune?

Jet-Hit has a snazzy video taken with a FLIR thermal camera on their website but there is no actual numbers telling you the before and after difference. They claim 65% cooler.

Well after this happened to me and several other "buyers" we did the research that you rec'd above. We found out that the stock headers actually run 200-300 degrees COOLER than the aftermarket ones due to the fact they are made of iron and are much thicker than what he sells. They also have an incredibly efficient heat shield from Triumph. I never felt ANY heat coming from my stock headers. It never even crossed my mind actually.

The problem is this company claims they run cooler than stock, increase airflow by 30-40 percent AND he has them coated by a company called HPC coatings in New Zealand. They seems legit after looking at there website etc...

My tuner told me that there is NO WAY an aftermarket header would ever run cooler than stock. He burned his leg dynotuning my bike, so he had a lot to say about it...lol.

So, in other words, he's shady as ****. Not surprising coming from a hole in the wall operation. So, like I said, call it a lesson learned, and move along.
