Stock one is nowhere near good enough if you drag race.

I added a lightweight bumper support and allowed us to space out the stock unit to add fans. Yes it's very worthwhile to prevent heat soaking

I'll work on some pics this weekend, but basically my brother cut the tack welds off of the factory bumper and made a lightweight chomoly bumper support.
Saved about 10# but also allowed room to space out the factory HE to add fans.
The stock bumper support has a strange shape that does not allow fans.
With the extra room, he fabbed up a mount for twin Spal fans that are 1" less than the C&R unit (each flow 50cfm less).
I actually have the top shelf C&R HE unit with fans but decided to do this instead.
I think you can search JPC S197 tubular bumper support for a pic, and my brother has at least one more made up, PM me if you're interested.

not sure I'm wanting to go that far quite yet but still curious as to how the end results turned out. I have seen some of the best mods from you guys and its amazing how clean they turn out, plus the knowledge i and others pick up is priceless!

For sure worth it, you will notice a big difference in IAT2 compared with the stock unit.
