Vette all day, you live in SoCal and don't have the "need" for a truck so why get one. I've had several vettes and by far the C7 is my favorite.

My opinion. Get the truck.

Youve got a 2011 GT, which means you have access to any number of supercharger or turbo kits to make more reliable power than the Z06. Enough parts out there to make you chassis on par or exceed the Boss 302. The Coyote is a known proven engine that LOVES boost. Plus being in CA, there are a number of 50 state legal options to modify your Mustang. Here is a Ford Racing 624 HP kit. It IS for a manual trans car though:

My guess is you are either close or have paid off the Mustang. At this point getting a Corvette for the sake of another sports car is not very wise. This has nothing to do with Ford v. Chevy, but everything to do with not wasting your money. Even being single, having 4 vehicles gets real expensive real quick, regardless of your income level.

If you REALLY like the Vette, Id trade the Mustang AND the Explorer in on it should that be your decision. If you needed a truck, you can always rent one.

You must take the emotion out of this decision. If you only had the Explorer, or only had the Miata its a different story. If you decide you want truck, get truck and trade in explorer. If you want Mustang, trade in Mustang and Explorer.

My 2 cents.

The C6 Z06 and C7 Z51 has the dry sump oiling system so expect to pay dearly for oil changes around the $125 to 150 mark. It's not for the faint of heart or even people with a general understanding of auto maintenance.

You have to drain the oil out of the two drain plugs underneath, then you only fill the oil half way wait I think 15 minutes then fill it the rest of the way. You can not over or under fill it when doing this you need to be spot on! It's just simpler to let the dealership handle it and not those 15 minute oil and lube places.
LOL! I just picked up 2 5-Qt jugs of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 oil filter at Walmart. Total cost with tax, approximately $75.

Yes there are two drain plugs, both within 8 inches of each other. Removing and replacing that extra plug costs me dearly... at least 60 additional seconds.

Wait 15 minutes to fill the other half of the oil? LOLOLOL....

This question to me is like, should I buy a wheel barrow or a go-kart? Well, what are you planning to do? Haul more loads or have more fun?
I think that is a very personal question. If you are trying to validate getting a truck, I think it will go to waste. If you want a Corvette, why not unload the Mustang unless they would have two different purposes... i.e. drag car and autocross car, or garage queen and drag car, ect.
I have a Cobra, Viper, 5.9 limited ZJ, and Fiesta. I use the Cobra for fun, the Viper is a garage queen, the Fiesta isa daily, the Jeep is winter fun/winter storm driver, and hauler.
I have considered a Vette but it would have to replace my Cobra, I don't want a 3rd sports car. If I got a truck, it would have to replace my Jeep.
If I were to buy anything right now... it would be a trailer for the Jeep.

Just wanted to give a quick update if anyone was interested. I checked out the F150 yesterday and decided to pass on it. I loved driving it and it was super comfortable, but it was larger than I expected it to be. I don't think it will be practical for my purposes especially if I need to drive it around the city with small streets and parking lots. I may look into a midsized truck but I'm not a fan of any of the current offerings. Thanks for all the advice but I'll probably put the purchase on hold for the time being.

Have you checked out a nice used F150 Tremor? They aren't anything special but it's 'smaller' and if you throw a tune on it you could have a good time.

The best bang for buck is the fiesta st. 33mpg and small and fun as hell to drive. Now with the 3k rebate they can be had for less than 20.

You may want to look into a jeep jk 2dr. Blast for the beach small and agile. I loved mine. I just drove it too much. 70k in 3 years.

I'd go for the Corvette, specifically the C6Z. It will make you forget about your 2011 Mustang.

On the C6 and C7 it'll come down to what you like more the power and slightly more exclusivity for the C6 Z06 or better interior and comfort with the Z51.

This guy has NO CLUE what he is talking about... It's just as simple to change the oil on a dry sump corvette as any other car. Two drain plugs, one normal filter, pour the oil in the fill hole. It takes 8 or 10 quarts depending on the year of the car.

vettes are for faggots. Go ahead and get the F150.

cute:p
