I actually experienced this recently with UPS. I bought a set of GT500 mufflers from an individual and he shipped them via UPS and insured. When they arrived it was obvious they didnt handle the box properly both sides of the boxes had holes and rips from the mufflers thrashing around them. When opening the box on one of the mufflers the tip and exhaust hook up pipe were badly dented from being dropped. The shipper had both ends wrapped and it still dented/bent the pipes.

We went to file a claim and they denied it stating the box was not rated to support the weight of the muffler. The shipper used the same box his KB blower came in which weighs more than the mufflers. They refused to work with us on the claim, since this I will not use UPS ever again!!

The seller and I ended up splitting the cost and he reimbursed me half of the insured cost which I thought was fair.

Must be an Ohio thing. I was paying 240 a mont for twc for a long time. Actually called them and said I was going to switch to ATT which had a better deal. Guy looks at my account and was like Holy Shit you are on an old plan, switched us over to spectrum, didn't have to change equipment and email was all the same and bill is huts under half of what it was

The wife and I closed her account for Time Warner Cable/Internet and I opened a new account with Spectrum (because Spectrum bought out TWC).

Everything sounded good on the phone and they were sending me the new equipment (DVR and modem/router).

A week goes by and No new equipment showing up. I call Spectrum and they said there was a mistake and I needed to go to the "local" store and pick the equipment up myself. The closest store is 40 minutes away.

So I make the 40 minute drive to the store after work and they give me the new equipment. I get home, hook it all up. The modem/router works but the DVR does not work. The lights would not even come on.

So I make the 40 minute drive to the store the next day after work again, turn in the broken DVR, tell them they have to test the new DVR before I leave, it lights up and I am off to go hook it up at home.
I get home, hook it up, it lights up, but no channels.

I sit on the phone with Spectrum for about an hour before they realize I did not get the correct DVR for my package. I told them send out a Tech. as I am not making that trip again.

I also asked them why our email account was no longer working. They told me that in order for them to transfer the email account (which I use for everything) we (the wife and I both) need to go to the "local" store and fill out a request form in order to transfer the email account from my wife's TWC account to my Spectrum account. I asked if there was any other way to do this and they told me No.

That Saturday, the wife and I made the 40 minute drive to the Spectrum store and asked to fill out the form. The Spectrum store employees, including the manager had no idea what the hell I was talking about.
I actually had to call Spectrum, put my phone on speaker, and have the Spectrum phone person explain what was needed to the store manager.
The manager told the Spectrum tech. that they had no such forms.
The manager finally had wife and I fill out an old outdated TWC form and the store faxed it to the Spectrum main office.

The tech showed up that week and hooked up the correct DVR so we could now watch TV again.

So the only thing that was still not working was our email. I called a couple times, asking for tier 3 people to talk to as nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. Finally, I got a guy who could get the email account transfered and working. He told me that the wife and I had to go to a "local" store and fill out a form.
I informed him that we already did that and it was faxed to the main office by the manager of the local store.
He did some checking and there was nothing documenting this.

Luckily, I asked for the form after they faxed it, so I had the original at home with me, just in case something like this happened.
I took the form to work, scanned it into a PDF form and sent it to the tech. by email. As soon as he received the email, he got our email account up and running.

So it ended up being about 3 weeks of pure frustration just to make the switch from TWC to Spectrum. FML :(

People suck. Customer service is like a unicorn. In rare cases where service is good, it actually surprises me. Sad.
Good customer service is so rare for a couple of reasons.

1. There are no schools to teach people how to do it right

2. It doesn't pay shit so once you have experience and are good at it you move on to bigger and better things

I have been in customer service most of my career in one form or another. Usually at the higher tiers and even I can't stand most of the first level tech support. When I get good service I try to make sure to both tell the person and do a survey for them specifically

I actually had that happen with Wal-Mart. We bought some meat to cook for dinner and when we got home and opened the package, the meat smelled rancid.

At what point do you think buying meat at Walmart is a good idea? I love me some cheap walmart deals, but I will NOT buy meat there.

+65,000. Neither meat nor produce shall be purchased at walmart. If it is in the food department and not in a box or can it stays where it is

My worst customer experience was dealing with Kenne Bell. What transpired was posted here years ago so I won't repost it.

Called Consumers power and told them that my electric was surging, lights dimming and brightening, I was afraid to turn on anything electronic. Woman told me they would be out in 3-7 days. Called back and said that the line from the house to the pole was shooting out sparks. Truck was there in 20 minutes.
Poor customer service, great emergency response.

I bought a new Samsung S8 back on June 20th. I sent my old smart phone in as a "trade in" to receive a $200 rebate. It's done via charging my credit $25 (minimum trade in amount) but if the phone is decent I should get $200. If not, they will just randomly decide to charge me another $175. Anyway, they...wait no it wasn't Samsung, they outsourced this promotion. That company got my trade in July 7th. So far via Samsung's status on my rebate, it's gone from "product received", to "product confirmed", now to "product shipped" and showing "Max Trade In Value: $0.00" WTF is going on Samsung!

I'd say the worst I've had that I can remember is recently.

I had an Asus Motherboard (Top dog MB when I bought it a few years ago) and it finally failed, stopped reading any GPU I put in the PCIe slots. Sent it in, paid about $25 bucks in shipping for an oversize, well-packed box with insurance to send it to the Asus repair center. The MB was removed by a professional as I had to upgrade it to the newest model since I could not find any new ones as they are 3+ years old.

Asus receives the package, couple of days later, they send me a small, single picture of a couple of pins near the Motherboard where the CPU/Processor goes. They say this voids the warranty automatically (5-year warranty) and they will not cover any failed part on the board because of this. They then say it they will offer me a discounted repair of $150 for the board. A new one is $180-$200, why fix an outdated one at that?

So, after several conversations, they won't budge. I seen results online as much as 500 complaints against Asus voiding warranties like there is no tomorrow.

It's a shame that I just dropped another $200 on a new board while I waited for the old one to possibly get fixed/replaced. Now they are sending the board back after almost two weeks of back and forth.

Never going to buy another Asus product as long as I live.

My worst was when ordering our 2013 GT500. The salesman and I agreed on a price and he got it approved by the sales manager. I told him I would be in at the end of the week with the cash down payment.

I went back 3 days later with cash in hand. The sales manager on duty said he would have to do the order because regular salesmen don't do the special orders. We built the car and then he told me that he wanted another $5000 over the agreed upon price.

I showed him the paperwork from the previous visit and he said that he didn't care. If I want the car I needed to cough up another $5K. The owner wasn't there so I told this guy to go **** himself and left. I contacted the owner who wasn't much help either.

I ended up going to another dealer who stuck by his price to the very end.

Actually I have a friend who is a CSR Billing Support person for the largest porn company on the web.

He says that he frequently gets people calling for a refund because they paid for porn but were unable to "finish".
Obviously there is no guarantee of finishing.

Azza PC Cases.

In 2011, I bought a Azza Hurrican case for a PC I was building. Got everything installed, go to fire it up, and my HDD cracks, fizzles, smokes. WTF.

I checked the connections and the stupid Chinese garbage hot-swap boards they installed had a solder bridge across 5.5v and 12v supply, so it popped the TVS diode on the HDD PCB.

I contacted Azza, told them what happened. They said since the board is outsourced, they can't vouch for it. Not cool. They got me in contact with some dude in China named "Henry," who told me it is physically impossible for the board to be wrong and that a 12v leak won't damage anything so it has to be my fault. I told Azza how the exchange went and they never replied. I tried calling and they'd just bounce me around and disconnect my call.

So, I lost a ton of data. Quotes to repair the HDD ran from $1200 to $12,000.

Thanks, Azza. Last time I ever buy from you turds.

Something VERY similar happened to me in September with UPS. My ATAKs came in demolished. UPS would not honor the insurance for the same reasons as your case.

Contact your regional UPS manager and tell them what happened. The regional manager for my area helped me out big time.
