They were successful with McLaren in 1984, 1985, and 1986 winning the driver championships 3 years in a row and the constructor championship 2 years in a row in both 84, and 85 with a couple of nobodys.
Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.
In 84 they only won 12/16 races.
Just because its before your time doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Yea I wouldn't have remembered I was born in 84.

There was sparse attendance at the E-Prix here in Montreal today despite the perfect weather. Nothing like Grand Prix weekend where the city is buzzing.

I know you are kidding about the "nobodys". The Professor actually had more race fast laps than Senna never mind championships. The guy that many hold in such high regard. The Frenchman also had fewer crashes where he just left the track and went home instead of going to the pits....without telling anyone where he was going. Senna holds the World title for that.

Back in those days I could show up at Le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and 10 Minutes after the end of the race or qualifying I could be in the paddock by the garages talking to the mechanics and sometimes meeting the drivers.

Those days are long gone which is why my interest in the sport has dwindled.
