Early Cobra for track car?

Good evening everyone. This is my first post here so please bear with me. I'm looking at a few early SN95 Cobra's to slowly turn into a dedicated track car (road course, no drag). Originally I wanted any SN95 and planned an instant coyote swap but I think it would be more beneficial to focus on the handling/driving of the car before I make any major changes with the engine. I know a coyote swap is always an option, hopefully it's not bad juju to fellow Cobra owners. Either way, does the Cobra (and SN95 in general) perform well as a track car? I'm a Ford fanboy and always loved the looked of older Cobra's over Fox mustangs, new mustangs, new edge, etc.

Thanks!

I think you will be happy with whatever you choose depending on your goals. The biggest single mod IMO is a good cage. This will stiffen any chassis and provide a stable platform to modify. We have a Fox body Lemons car that handles great but has no power. I have also tracked a 70 Mustang and my 16 Gt350. The 350 is awesome. Good handling can offset power. Make sure your oiling system is up to road course duty.

Alright so I've looked at a few local cars and nothing really stands out. I'd prefer stock (or close to it) and the color to be white but I'm flexible as long as it's not yellow lol.

I found this one for sale about 2 hours from me... (see attachments)

First question, is this the bright atlantic blue that everyone seems to covet or something different? Also, here is the guys listing...

"I am selling this very clean cobra. It is a must see if you are serious about buying one of these cars. We just had the short block of engine rebuilt. It has less than 50 miles on it. It has an eagle crank, H beam rods. New bearings. New seals. Runs excellent. Just installed Four brand new tires. Painted the wheels. The rear end has a 3:73 gear. It has lowering springs front and back. The car itself has 96k miles and the odometer does work. It also has Sparco race seats with five point seat harness. New battery. It has off road h pipe with flow master exhaust. Also just installed new headlights and marker lights."

I spoke with him on the phone and he mentioned owning a mustang performance shop and acquired this car due to a boyfriend/girlfriend feud that resulted in boyfriend sabotaging girlfriends car and causing it to spin 2 bearings (thus the rebuild).

Does this seem like something legit or should I be staying away from this and just keep looking for something closer to stock? Asking price is $6900.

Thanks!

*Forgot to add...98,000 miles on the still functioning tach.*

Just my opinion, but that engine seems awfully dirty to just have 50 miles on it since being rebuilt. I'd have to see and hear it run before pulling the trigger, but if it runs fine, the price isn't that far off for the mileage.

On Cobras, Bright Atlantic Blue was only offered in '98.

I agree. I suppose I could tell a lot more by driving up and checking it out. I realized I didn't mention that it is a '98 so I'm assuming it might be Bright Atlantic Blue..?

If they have documentation on the rebuild, it's worth it. Though, it makes me wonder what pistons are in it since it mentions crank and rods, but not pistons.
